How should American's raise awareness of the national debt and also raise awareness on a large scale? I want to know how we can start to teach people how dangerous not only their own spending habits are, but the gov't as well. I would like to raise awareness of the fiscal crisis and wonder what are some solutions to solve the problem?
My friend is dealing with a co. called American Solutions center for a grant for cc payoff, are they a scam? They want her to send them 299.99 for the up front cost and then they will send her a huge amount of money (grant) to consolidate her cc debt
I need some answers about debt settlement and companies who do debt settlements.? I have some serious debt issues and need some help. I talked to a debt settlement company, but I can't find any specific information about them. Does anyone know about American Financial Services or Axiom Financial Solutions? And does debt settlement really screw up your credit as badly as some would have you believe? It seems to me if you have unsecured debt you can't pay that would damage your credit just as badly. Help! I need info from somebody who knows about these things.
A National Debt/Deficit Solution That We Can All Agree On? The National Debt should be a huge concern for all Americans. Liberals warned during the Bush years that something had to be done. Finally, Republicans realize this too so here is a solution. The United States should apply to be a member of the EU. Soon, Germany will be dictating economic policy in the Euro/America Zone and Germany will take the punch bowl away from any member who cannot control their spending and deficits. A simple solution we can all agree on.
If Americans get rid of their personal individual debt, will this help America get rid of the national debt? I am fearful of our nation's future in regards to economics because of the 12 trillion $ debt we are in. I'm looking for steps that individuals can take in helping out nation recover from this whole mess. Is getting rid of our own individual debt a viable solution?
How it's effect debt management program to my credit report? What is the Republican solution to get us out of debt? I know you guys want the tax cuts to remain permanent, so what is the solution to get us out of our trillions of dollars of debt while making the tax cuts to Americans permanent and spending 150 billion dollars a year on wars?
IS a wall really going to stop Immigrants from crossing the Mexican/American Border? I mean trust me if someone really wants to cross that border, they will find a way and usually with relative ease. What solutions are there for getting immigrants out of this country? they are just causing more debt, death, and cost of health care. We hand these immigrants a gold medal of honor for illegally sneaking into this country. Should we jail them? but even that right there would cost us a lot of money...if we deport them back they will keep sneaking over even if the wall is built.
How happy are you that 0bama is saddling your great grand kids with all this debt? 2009 federal deficit surges to $1.42 trillion Oct 16, 9:23 PM (ET) By MARTIN CRUTSINGER Google sponsored links Save American Jobs - A Plan to Revive the Economy Get Involved. It's more than the total national debt for the first 200 years of the Republic, more than the entire economy of India, almost as much as Canada's, and more than $4,700 for every man, woman and child in the United States. It's the federal budget deficit for 2009, more than three times the most red ink ever amassed in a single year. And, some economists warn, unless the government makes hard decisions to cut spending or raise taxes, it could be the seeds of another economic crisis. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20091017/D9BCHP5O0.html
Will Obama go along with the Buy American plan in the stimulus bill or let the bill fail because? If you are a seminar blogger giving out propaganda from your EU & Chinese specialist interest group don't answer. Who cares if we have a trade war with Europe they do nothing for working Americans any way Americans love Paris but hate Europe John Kerry lost in 2004 because of it, and the only time Mccain lead Obama was after he went to Europe. If Buy American fails Obama's poll numbers drop to 40's. There are 12 Democratic Senator who only signed on because of Buy American. A poll shows 90% support Buy American but only 38% support the rest of the bill. Why did buying decrease? Credit implosion. Why did the credit go bad? Bad credit standards. What did they buy? Outsourcing. Where is are industry that can rebuild our economy? China. In the last 15 years imports have roase 1500% while exports dropped 1100%.The credit debt of Americans has increased along the same lines as there are fewer dollars from GDP going to workers. This meant consumption went up and industry went down. This could be compared to a poor man with balloon loan except it was the retail Business buying jets and outsourcing customers at the same time. When you send more then half of your growth to another country it balloons faster then a bad loan. When it fills to much with inflation and credit debt it pops. Then you have no industry, the retailer have a smaller customer base, and the banks have more debt then equity. The only solution that works is to rebuild what every enemy in the world fears American industry and are workers so much better that when even threaten it the crooks around the world scream in fear. We need to tax non American made goods in stores to make the consumer not want to buy them. Obama's rating dropped from 79% to 68% could this be the issue that makes him Carter?

What exactly is the Republican Plan to solve the Problems facing the Nation? I actually asked my Member of Congress who is a Republican what is the Republican alternative solutions to the problems and challenges facing the federal government and all he could tell me that the Democrats solutions are wrong. Okay, lets assume they are wrong, what are the Republican solutions? All I hear are crickets. We have to compete against the Chinese, Indians, and Europe for oil reserves wherever they are if investing in alternative energy solutions is wrong then what is their solution? How would they hold the banks and insurance companies accountable for the damage they did to the Economy? What exactly is the Republican solution, especially if they are on record as being against all regulation. How do you fight a "War on Terror" on two fronts and in several regions around the World without incurring debt or raise taxes? What is the Republican solution? How do you pay off the debt incurred by the "War on Terror", cut taxes for EVERYONE, and still responsibly provide the services we all expect? How do you provide for the elderly if Medicare and Social Security are wrong because they are failed socialist programs? Without those programs most of the Americans 67 years old and older are in serious trouble, including most of what is considered the Tea Party. What is the Republican solution to take care of these people when they get the "Government" out of their Medicare? How do you keep our commitments to the rest of the Planet? We have several treaties which are commitments. Is the Republican Plan to just renege on all of them and if so what do we do when there is push back. There is precious little in any American house that is actually made here including foods.
Is this The Final Destruction Of The Middle Class? Like it's the Great 2008 Transfer Of Wealth, and Americans are confronted with what appears to be the worse economic situation since the Great Depression. What will history say about the U.S. credit crisis turned global financial crisis? At every turn investors are faced with new problems, new crises, and less than desirable solutions which include debt, deflation and a transfer of wealth. With regard to debt, the American taxpayer has been made the lender of last resort for international bank Bear Stearns and now the two Government-sponsored Enterprises-GSEs, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. On top of the $29B for Bear Stearns, Fannie and Freddie's debt of $5.4T has been effectively transferred to the balance sheet of the USA. This is equal to the entire publicly traded debt of the U.S. which is also the same as the total of America's mortgage-related assets. In addition to personal debt, every American now has a financial responsibility for Bear Stearns and Fannie and Freddie. We, the people, have saved the foreign investors such as China which owns $376B, Japan which owns $228B, South Korea which owns $65B, Taiwan which owns $55B, and Australia which owns $33B, from losing faith in America. It is the stockholders, both common and preferred, that have been given the raw end of the deal. While large financial institutions such as JP Morgan, which owns $1.2B of Freddie and Fannie stock, said a complete loss would only erase one or two months of profits, contrast this to smaller banks such as the Central Virginia Bank in Richmond which has $20M in shares of Freddie and Fannie. That type of loss will put them in the same kind of trouble as Lehman Brothers, not enough capitalization. There are 15 other banks that hold 10% or more of their capital in shares of Freddie and Fannie. So, it's this the end of our middle class life as we know it?
What will democrats do when they retake the congress and white house .? Will we have the same old tired programs that have failed in the past .Will the massive cuts in defense spending without a viable alternative industry doom america to recession and even depression .WITH so many americans in debt upto thier eye-balls what plan does the democrats offer to change america for the better . SEEMS they are going to react rather then work to change the base of a militaristic economy that we are based on causing wide spread layoffs and unemployment with no solution . I do not like the current prospect of continued war to support jobs in america .SEE we are taking the current reserve of wealth in america and hoping for stable energy prices in the near future .BUT the plan is dragging on and the costs increasing . WE need an american who can invest the wealth of america in a direction away from war goods and towards energy alternatives and in the short term oil exploration and production here in america short term to stabalize our economy. It runs on oil!
Obama's health care reform is going to cover more people and reduce our debt? Many belief that statement, Obama included. That this proposed health care reform is the solution to our debt. Hence Obama's focus on pushing health care as his top priority. Yet, efforts to create enough money to start up and maintain this has raised the expected 2010 deficit (1.6 trillion to be the new estimate). Yet our current health care as of now covers the vast majority of Americans. Also to put into prospective Obama claims 47 million are uninsured (Besides Obama's word, I can't back up this number, also this would include non citizens and those who chose not to get insurance), which compared to just US citizens, it’s15% without insurance. This means we have a system where about 10% or less of American citizens are uninsured, obviously not perfect but not terrible either There are 3 major concerns at the moment, unemployment, currency strength, and our debt. The purpose of the Stimulus was to curb unemployment, unemployment rose past the point of what was predicted if we didn't pass the stimulus. The health care reform is suppose to reduce our debt, so while existing within a recession, tempering with health care which for the most part is holding up, and can be addressed later, Why does health care need to be tacked as of now? Do you believe health care reform will cover more people, not ration, and reduce our debt? I don't believe not having health care, makes you sick, I'm not saying it's good that people are not covered either, through this health care reform is definitely not utilitarian. All views are appreciated though @ Drixnot People get more out of SS than what they put in, this is possible because our economy was growing and out population base is growing (more new people more tax rev), thus SS is funded greatly through taxes itself. @ Drixnot, I believe the public option is payed for through taxes, thus the middle class will be forking the bill, also if paying for the public option is mandatory, having a private option is just additional costs to the public one, thus more are going to be stuck with the pulbic version, with the rich being the only ones who are going to afford private. @froggy, we are in a reccesion, and in such efforts should be done to minimalize it, Obama has surged Afgan on top of this, when are efforts going to be placed to reduce the 3 things I listed? "If you have a private plan you will be EXCLUDED from the tax" if that is the case, where is the revenue going to come from? Those without private versions are without because they can't afford them, correct?
Where can i go (forum wise) to discuss/read ideas & solutions about ways to improve/temper our gov't? see i really am sick of people complaining about what is wrong, and yet offering nothing back on how to better this country, solutions to improve the lot of its citizens, and ignoring the ever revolving pointing of the finger of who we should blame. dont get me wrong, i would love nothing better than to crucify those entities deserving of a mob rising up in the middle of the night at their door step. however, as such actions are deemed reprehensible in society, i must instead devote my more dark festering energies in a positive manner. i would like to connect with individuals who are at the least attempting to address the questions that are at hand here. What to do about the tax situation? How best to stabilize the economy while not showing favoritism to certain companies, groups, individuals? What can we do to stop the corporate corruption of the large "economic" empires from bucking the system and undermining the authority and mediator powers of our government? How best to avoid future problems like this from arising? How best to promote economic growth? What are we going to be doing about the oil situation? What steps should the american people be burdened with taking to flip the bill concerning our national debt? What are we going to do about the illegals in this country? Is our country's national security a top priority? What are we going to do to improve our image concerning matters abroad? Is abortion murder? and... who gets to decide where one life is more important than the other? What are we going to do about the education situation of this country? Why should people of a certain age, that don't have kids be forced to pay school taxes... after a certain point? Shouldn't there be some sort of check and balances concerning people who skirt this tax by choosing not to own a house? Does anyone else out there get annoyed with the supreme judicial appointees legislating from the bench as apposed to interpreting the constitution? Why aren't we more concerned with urban sprawl, when vast plots of cities' internal blocks are broken and desolant? Is adding a health care plan that will in the long run cost the citizens trillions dollars a wise idea to attempt institutionalizing when our economy is already going through an inflation period to adjust to the rising scarcity of oil? What ways can say an individual get information concerning how their state, city, county, local beauros are spending money, assisting businesses and private citizens during this economic drout? you know, and this is just to start. i mean i am ready for something to happen, if it means getting involved so be it. i dont have much else to do, but i dont necessarily know what to do, or how best to go about implementing/discussing/reforming ideas to really address some of these questions. i have some ideas, not all of them are riddled with sarcasm laced with frustration and irritation of the media... but i dont think they are what they should be and just really would like to read what other people would like to see happen and that is all kinds out there. does such a forum of debate exist?
Does learning American History bear any importance to the United States in the 21st century? Does learning American History bear any importance to the United States in the 21st century? The study of U.S History is what helps one place in perspective the issues before us today. Are racism, religious conflict, questions over education, the balance between civil rights and domestic security still issues today? How have we debt with those issues in the past, and what are the constitutional and legal grounds for any decisions on any those issues? without a knowledge of U.S history (and history in general) it's impossible to understand how things have come to be this way,and what solutions have been tried for what problems. The lack of historical knowledge means that each new generation must try to invent "the new wheel" anew rather than knowing what mistakes were made before and hopefully avoiding some of the most glaring ones.If you don't know where you came from, you don't know where you going.Does knowing who your parents are and where they came from have any importance to your life?If you don't know your family history you cannot understand your family. Although it's always always good to know the history, you can find out why things are happening now,why we have laws, and freedoms we have grown to know today.History makes the future. That's a fact. Therefore, learning what you're will help you deal with what's coming. If you don't know your history, you're doomed to repeat it. *what eles should i add?? i need at least a full page*
Why can't the government give the American people a bailout? The solution is for Americans to have more money to spend. Why can't our government give every law-abiding legal citizen a major stimulus check? I don't mean the little thousand dollar thing that Bush gave so people could get a big screen TV. If each law-abiding legal citizen (voting age) received half a million dollars, that wouldn't begin to approximate the money we have thrown away( like three millilon dollars building a bridge for turtles to cross the road ). People would get out of debt (which would save the banks), could buy houses (the housing market would skyrocket), obviously spend (our economy would absolutely soar), and hiring would go through the roof. That is not a socialist solution but it would WORK!!
Did Mr Obama give a solution to our fixing our "unsubstainable debt" that we borrow from other Countries? I mean, as the Leader, should not he also offer the sacrifices that he is willing to make on his ideological-based agenda? Or, is that out of the question to him as the American People are the only ones suppose to "sacrifice?" http://bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20603037&sid=abXWfVxx_e8w&refer=home
Fellow Americans:with our annual debt increasing, dollar becoming toilet paper;whats the solution for America? Our problem is not lack of resources, lack of energy, lack of anything. We suffer from an excess of counterfeit money, printed by the fed, and the fractional reserve banks it supports. Govt, trying to hold the system together, has formed ridiculously expensive social welfare & warfare state programs. War in the middle east is to force others to accept worthless dollars, they were seeking out euro's, pounds, anything but the $. The problem is achieving sound, moral economics, where the wealth of the people is not sequestered. Economic expansion will come about, driven by those who have earned wealth, once sound money is achieved & the CONSTITUTION is enforced. In the age of global governance/dominance, the question also extends to, how do we achieve sound, moral economics, where the wealth of nations is not sequestered. In the world of global plutocracy, the question also extends to, how to we achieve sound, moral economics, where the wealth of the planet is not sequestered into the hands of a handful of inbred reprobates who worship Satan. Let's pull back the troops, wipe out derivatives/corporate welfare, slash regulations and taxes & reduce social security once people have jobs to go to. This is freedom, yes it is scary, but humans were made to be free.
What has happen to the American People's Voice? I don't know how we got to this point. I see on the news and around the country Americans tearing into each other over every issue we have. I see Americans destroying the very administration that swore to help us. I see Americans yelling at each other and becoming angry. I see Americans criticizing good deeds to help others. What had happen to the Voice of the People? Why aren't we together shouting out what we need to do and uniting to save the world from the perception danger? I see people fighting on both sides. Two parties manipulating us against each other! People think Obama's health Care is government run. Does anyone research this up? I hear people yelling about our debt going up but nothing is be done to look at the problem or look for a solution? Why is the Voice of American distorted and disputed? Why are we not solving our problems? We are being controlled! Every feeling you get is be use and extorted to help our leaders do what they want! We are tearing into each other in Health Care, Tax plan, and other problems! We won't let people help us because our emotions are used to think they are really trying to hurt us. Does anyone think anymore?!? Our vision is blurred, our hearing is broken, and our voice is silent.... If we keep tearing each other apart then we will not make progress! We cannot move forward when are stopping each other from progressing. Why is our Voice gone? When will be be united again?
How to avoid daily interest rate when debiting money from a credit card? My little sister got her first credit card from a a store.Normally credit cards give you close to 30 days for paying the interest or the total. Ideally If you purchase any products and you pay your debt at time, you pay nothing. If you debit cash money of $100, for example, you will nevertheless pay the interest fees even if you paid everything at time before the 30 days of your bill payment. I want to know if American express prepaid gifcard, if purchased, can be considerate like cash debit or a regular product. For clarification, a prepaid gifcard is a card that have a fix amount of money preincluded. The card can be use for debiting or purchasing. In the case the gifcard could be considerate like a product, no interest fees would be apply during the 30 days. So this is my question, I want to know if credit card spare us from their high interest rate if purchasing gift card. If yes, where can I buy similar gift card in Quebec,Canada? This could be the best solution to avoid high My friend,I'm not looking for a savant way to not pay the interest rate. Am talking about cash money debited from the credit card. My sister card charge her something like.0464 per days. How can she avoid that is my question.Since buying an item such a laptop don't charge daily fees. They only start to charge when you late for your due date. I try to see a gifcard as a product just like a laptop. Its a product that we buylike an object.I wonder if its a feasable idea
How many people are stuck working in an office all day with YA as the only stimulation of their cerebellum? This at least leads to some movement of your extremities and the only exercise you get beyond going to the break room to pop more corn to crunch at your desks . To bad this does not lead to any kind of rational debate and solutions to pressing problems . (What i mean is my solutions be accepted LOL or any rational solutions ) Instead we have liberals and conservatives leaving a few moderates in the middle who are more concerned with actual problems like the mounting debt , growing police state and loss of freedoms under the patriot act and the attempt to allow wholesale torture again setting us back 500 years to the middle ages . ......... Wars will rage on and new enemies created because thats the way things have always been and always will be as long as we continue to believe in the after life . Who is worse-- terrorists and 72 virgins or the government regulations, restrictions and regulatory commissions that enslave almost all Americans today . We need to reduce government soon . By the way get back to work this is the Boss .
Can McCain supporters give me an idea on what John's stances are on the following issues? Where does he stand on: The lowly American taxpayer working minimum-wage jobs with no health insurance--while battling the high costs of renting? Or the outrageous costs in living? My now $400 grocery bill--which used to be $200 only 3 years ago? What is his answer to the rising costs of buying food and basic essentials? My expensive medications? How can I afford such on my limited income? Will he help people like me gain access to cheaper meds at a fair price? My freedoms of speech and right to peaceful assembly? My Constitutional rights? Will he uphold them or trample them like Bush did? The national deficit? How is he going to reduce our $10 trillion dollar debt in under 4 years as President--like Bush originally promised? Our environment? What is he planning on doing to protect it? Global warming? How will he combat this problem nationally and globally? What *is* McCain's stances on things like poverty and the homelessness? The elderly? Social Security? What? Job security? Job creation? Minimum-wages? Affordable health care? The American Dream? What is McCain's solutions to these growing problems concerning Americans like myself?
reform to financial crisis during Louis XVI? if the cause of the financial crisis was involving in seven years war and american revolution what would be the reform or solution to this debt?
Are all Obama's supporters aware of how much his administration will cost? I think it is accurate to say that the US is 52 trillion dollars in debt. How are the Dems going to pay for all these programs? Are we going to just do it the "American" way and charge it?I'm not saying that McCain has the solution, but atleast he is not ready to spend what he does not have. Sorry I meant by November. The National Debt has continued to increase an average of $1.63 billion per day since September 29, 2006! Concerned?
Could we not blame the subprime problems on the lack of basic math knowlege of American Consumers? Who promoted these folks past 4th grade? By 4th grade you should have addition and subtraction down - you should even be able to multiply. If you cannot make a budget for yourself you need to find someone who can, right? It seems odd that folks are focusing on lenders who did actually disclose the consequences of the loan. If these bump up rates were not in the contracts (that were signed by consumers) the lenders would not be able to impliment these rates. Perhaps the best solution is to not forgive any debt regardless of forclosure or otherwise. Let folks live with the burden and perhaps they will not repeat the mistake. Folks might even teach their kids how to budget. Folks might also learn that they need to have more than one weeks spare income....to live within your means no matter how much you have. I would live in a tent (and have) before I borrow more than I can pay. The lack of basic knowledge amoung a few Americans can have worldwide economic consequences-bad. Kind of interesting that I have to budget over 5% of my income to pay for local education, but the kids are never tought how to do taxes or make a budget they can live with. "They are the most sophisticated people in this transaction they should be held responsible for their greed." - Are you serious? - that's the beginning of a long and dangerous road.
Are the Chinese a significant, long-term threat to American dominance? It seems to be the consensus around Yahoo! Answers that the Chinese are a major threat to America. I just can't see this. One point everyone always makes is "America owes China a multimillion dollar debt." So? Maybe I don't understand the deeper points in all this, but why not just NOT pay it, assuming they give us an ultimatum? What are they going to do? Send their crappy planes to come and, what, shoot their crappy Chinese bullets at Japan or South Korea or something? We have the world's finest Air Force, and the finest Navy. They have land dominance, but SO WHAT? We can shoot them from three miles in the air, and they just have to watch! Another point that people claim is that they have a booming economy. America's economy may be in sharp decline, but we're already out of it. People assume that this crisis is the end of America and the dollar, if not the crisis, Obama's solution. No, it isn't. That's the glory about the American government: nearly everything can be undone. I'm worried, sure, that the deficit that we have is going to quadruple in four years, but that's repairable. FDR did it (albeit through highly questionable means). Because America buys so much from China, and America is the world's biggest consumer, I think it's fair to assume that America is China's biggest buyer. All America (thus NATO, also probably not a small buyer) has to do is declare an embargo (gleaning away from purchasing Chinese beforehand so as not to have a massive product shortage) and China loses billions, if not trillions. Sure, China could bankrupt us in 20 years, but we could completely crush them in 10. I answered the military question, I do believe, so that's out. Air + Naval dominance > Land Dominance. I've noticed a lot of Chinese nationalists also on Yahoo! Answers, so that may be the source of my problems. I can recognize them as such because their English, or Engrish, is choppy at best, and they might even be hired by the Chinese as propagandists. Or, maybe they sincerely believe what they say. I choose the former. (I sound like I'm paranoid about the Chinese, but I'm not, I just recognize them as a POTENTIAL threat to Americanism.) So, are they? Could they beat the American Giant?
What do you think of my solution to all the current US problems? Let's see...housing, credit, unemployment, mortgages, debt, job loss...and the list just goes on and on and on...and the worst part is everyone bickering over it. How about everyone who is not Native American or the descendant of a Native American LEAVE and give us our country back? Actually, most tribes still farm, grow crops, raise livestock, and could be self sufficient by returning to living off the land.
Hasn't it been proven that commonsense Liberals have the solutions to our problems? Here is what happened after 12 years of a republican congress and 6 years of an entire republican government: Between Jan 2001-2009 under Republican's policies of deregulation and a 15% tax rate on stock profits for wealthy people: Budget went from a 236 billion surplus to a 1.2 TRILLION deficit (a 1.4 trillion drop) National debt doubled from 5.7 trillion to 10.6 trillion (a 5.2 trillion increase) Dow Jones plunged 25% from 10,587 to 7,949 Trillions in bad loans and gambling debts co-signed/guaranteed by the US Govt Two fake wars costing a trillion dollars and 6,000 american lives Gasoline tripled from 1.44 to 4.11 per gallon on July 11, 2008 Unemployment doubled from 4.2% to 8.2% Losing 700,000 jobs monthly Economy in total freefall (Republicans try to confuse people by saying democrats took over Congress in Jan 2007 and started the recession, but they can't name one thing democrats did to hurt the economy. What is the outline of the "Stay The Course" plan? In the month of September 2660 iraqi citizens were killed due to secterian violence or insurgency. 400 more than the previous month. The plan is to "Stay The Course" but I have not heard a thorough outline of what it means exactly. 4 years, 3000 American troops dead, Iraqi deaths in the 5 digits, and our national debt at an all time high. "Stay The Course" = 4 more years, 3000 more dead Americans, higher national debt and iraqi deaths in the hundreds of thousands. No solution from the Democrats, but No solution from the Republicans, just a "Stay The Course" slogan to make it seem as if there really is a plan.
So she covered all the talking points... again... but did you notice SP still doesn't have any solutions.? It is an inherent problem of a governor of a state that is rich in oil and that is that the entire population is on an oil company welfare program that they have never had to think outside of the box. This isn't a shot at Alaska... it's just the way it is... But is egotistical and arrogant of Mrs Palin that she thinks she is capable of coping or handling the likes of Wall Street. It has to be obvious to any conservative that believes in the so called free market system and trickle down debt program that business on wall street has no allegiances to you and I. It has no ethics... It only has one allegiance and that is to upper managements bottom line... what they walk away with in their pocket. I retired from United Airlines and they did it to me. When are the republicans going to get a clue that these guys need to go to prison... Wake up America... American business has no allegiance, to you and me... screw Wall Street... this democrat says not another dime without prison sentences.
Can the value of the American dollar go back up? I know we have a lot of money printed out right now. However, I was wondering can it ever go back up in value? If so, how long would it take? Would it go up in value as soon as money is stopped from being printed all the time by the federal reserve? Crazy as it seems I remember when I was a kid I used to say the solution to America's debt with Japan would be to print out more money. I remember telling my teacher that. We are doing exactly what I said when I was 15 years old. LOL Amazing. I see that idea is bad now. We are printing money and it has no direction, if it had direction with the printing of money then it would be alright but it's not unfortunately.
Will Obama's infrastructure plan hurt or help the economy? We now know that Obama wants to create more jobs by having a new infrastructure plan. However, where will this money come from? It sounds great to creat new jobs but is this really the solution. I'm curious to know if you think that this plan will hurt or help the economy? Or will it just increase Government debt from foreign countries, raise taxes on Americans, create more inflation, or help the economy?
Iraq, the Toyko accord & now the subprime crisis, is there no end to the upset America is causing the world? It seems that American actions, policies, and decisions are causing chaos across the world. Even the sub-prime crisis is now exported as German and French banks who would normally be very strict on loans to their own communities have been miss-sold very bad debts incurred by American banks and then repackaged. All the world wants a solution to global warming and yet the USA drags it's feet, when will this bad news stop?
When will Americans realize that neither 'big govt' or 'big corporations' are the solutions to the problem? Neither big government or big corporations is the solution. America is ‘America the people’ as stated in the constitution, and minimal government. People should learn how to fend for themselves and learn how to manage their budgets than piling up debts. With the government ‘bailing out’ big corporations as well as people (Obama's health bill reform), it will only be piling up the debt than addressing the problem. America is not following the laws of free market and competition when it has big government involvements, and then America might as well become completely socialist. CrocoDuck - open profile: The long term problem isn't the high prices. It is the national debt of this country. Our government has to keep increasing its debt because of irresponsible people and corporations that can't fend for themselves. As for the healthcare, the overly complicated FDA regulations for pharma here are a major reason why pharma products here are so expensive, and FDA being the only agency in the world that doesn't have price control regulations. These 2 are the main reasons why healthcare is so expensive here, other countries have price control. But American pharma products have a higher degree of Quality Assurance and Control (QA, QC) because of the strict regulations, but a higher price as well.
Is the US economy going to crash again? Is the US economy going to crash again? It feels like some things are being said to give confidence to the every day American that the economy is getting better, but I'm not really seeing any signs of it. Considering how much debt the US owes to China and other foreign markets and the proposed solution to just 'print more paper money', will the US economy experience another crash--this one worse than the first? And what happens if the Chinese stock market crashes or if China decides to sell or otherwise offload the US' debt?
Does this make sense with my Topic B college admission essay? I'm doing Topic B. It states: choose and important issue, either personal, school (related or political), or international in scope. Then, explain significance of that issue to yourself, your family, your community, or generation. * I talked about how the bad economy affects college students. And here is my essay: America’s Struggling Economy Ongoing financial problems have soon-to-be college or current students shocked as America’s plummeting economy is under a recession. With already high tuitions, college costs keep soaring resulting in middle class citizens’ burdens of finding solutions, usually done by federal funding of grants and loans. Job hunting is also less available to parents even if qualified because debt emphasizes and plays a crucial role in today’s economy (no money, no jobs). So, what is there to do? More college students are becoming frugal such as residing on campus, working one or two jobs, and only buying necessary items. After completion of high school, college is the next step for a successful future but rising debt prevents me from truly looking forward to it. Maybe preferring a community college over a university will help a bit but nonexistent mutualism between federal and state governments on the basis of money affects the amount I’ll be able to pay for tuitions. Instead of unequal power represented in federalism, shared tasks should be rightfully executed so people wouldn’t have to endure financial conflicts. Under the enumerated writings of the Constitution, advantages and restrictions could’ve limited Congressional powers or overall national government. During my four year college term, I hope the economy revives. Better laws and regulations distributed to citizens and government can be thought out more carefully and fairly so the word debt is far from trouble. Therefore, standard of living is experienced and appreciated through the eyes of Americans.
Why don't we do what Biden suggested? Donate $$$ to cover the debt or the stimulus package.? Charity concerts...movies that donate all proceeds (Streep)...fund-raisers...foreign cash donations (Bill Clinton)...Hollywood dinners (Streisand)...Telethons (Cindy McCain)...Alaskan Oil profits...Obama's campaign donations (domestic and foreign) What ideas do you have for this country to raise some fast cash to relieve some of the debt and pay for a stimulus package (or whatever you think the solution is)? Our country needs a bake sale (figuratively). Let's count on the finer qualities of Americans and see if contributing to a good cause (the USA) inspires generosity, unity and patriotism instead of taxation, partisanship, and divisivness.
I have the solution to our immigration problem and our debt to China.? While Mexicans want minimum wage we could hire Chinese for 2 dollars an hour all day long, lets undercut the Mexicans with Chinese labor the same way Mexicans undercut Americans. We could hire a million and put them on the border with full auto AK's and nothing comes into or goes out of America. The Chinese will be happy to sleep in a tent in the desert. Lets be fair the Chinese are just hard working immigrants wanting a better life, they just don't have the luxury of being attached to the US southern border. What do you illegal Mexicans think about that? You got old slant eyes ever 100 yards with an AK, Mexican drug cartel, LOL. Help the US pay off our debt to China, win, win for everyone, but Mexico, too bad for the tacos.
What would be the best solution? There is two parts to this economic crisis. One part is a recession which happens every so many years. The other part is financial. For decades the American people have been living way beyond their means resulting in hugh debt they cannot pay. That debt has to be cleared from the books. We can got about this in two different ways. One let the market fix it. This solution will be shorter but a lot more painful. Two Obama's program. This solution will be less painful but a lot longer.
Will Obama fix the problem or treat a symptom? In the last 15 years imports have roase 1500% while exports dropped 11000%.The credit debt of Americans has increased along the same lines as there are fewer dollars from GDP going to workers. This meant consumption went up and industry went down. This could be compared to a poor man with baloon loan except it was the retail buisness buying jets and outsourcing customers at the same time. When you send more then half of your growth to another country it baloons faster then a bad loan. When it fills to much with inflation and credit debt it pops. Then you have no industry, the retailer have a smaller cutomer base, and the banks have more debt then equity. The only solution that works is to rebuild what every enemy in the world fears American industry and are workers so much better that when even threaten it the crooks around the world scream in fear. We need to tax non American made goods in stores to make the consumer not want to buy them.
why do republicans still want to sell the scam idea of tax cuts to super-wealthy as economic solution? there has never been a bigger scam in US politics. borrow money from foreigners and grow the national debt, and give it to the super wealthy. only in the hope that they will use some of it to hire some more people. what a load of bologna!!!! I guess the American people will believe any scam idea if it's advertised right!!!!
How can Americans still defend capitalism? In history, every capitalist and far-right country went into catastrophic collapse or included socialist reforms in their system It is now impossible to pay back the debt America owes to China, that means that the USA will have to, sooner or later, declare bankruptcy. Capitalism led to the depression in the late 20s Look at all the capitalist countries that went into darkness: Germany, was a far-right oriented government, collapsed, Mussolini was murdered. Greece declared bankruptcy, Dubai, will be declaring bankrupt soon, Dubai, the most capitalist economy on earth. Communism doesn't work neither, socialism does. Look at Canada, they were not really affected by the recession, why?The answer is socialism Socialism is the solution, I am not talking here about totalitarianism, I'm talking about protectionism, and a mix between left-wing and right-wing, combined with democracy, like in Canada, look at what we have in Canada, a public and free health care system, and our economy is going better than yours ahh and the ones saying that health care is bad in Canada, look at the life expectancy differences. Canada, over 80, USA: 74 years. Socialism works, and it works well Capitalism is immoral and doesn't work, it leads to economic crisis and war.
Is the credit crisis breeding fascism for the "good of the public?"? The Wall Street Journal had one fact correct regarding Wall Street's accelerating collapse when on September 20th they wrote: When government officials surveyed the failing American financial system this week, they didn't see only a collapsed investment bank or the surrender of a giant insurance firm. They saw the circulatory system of the U.S. economy—credit markets—starting to fail . The Wall Street Journal was correct in that the circulatory system of the US economy was failing. Because the Wall Street Journal is the house organ of Wall Street investment banks and their co-conspirators in government, the Wall Street Journal blamed deteriorating credit markets for America's troubles, not those responsible— to wit, Alan Greenspan, Ben Bernanke, and their cohorts at the Federal Reserve Banks. ALAN GREENSPAN'S BASTARD SON Ben Bernanke, Alan Greenspan's surrogate successor at the Federal Reserve is using Greenspan's discredited playbook to hopefully resuscitate America 's economy. But pouring more credit into America 's stalled economy will not restart the US economy anymore than pouring gasoline into a flooded engine will restart an engine. Excessive credit caused the problem and more credit will only exacerbate it. The US central bank, the Federal Reserve, however is now backed into a corner, a corner from which there is no exit. After credit markets contracted in August 2007, it was hoped that central bank intervention would reverse the deterioration of global markets that was then only beginning. A year ago, on October 1, 2007 , I addressed that hope in my article, The Winter of Our Discontent : As we collectively move towards the economic disaster awaiting us, the investment community is hoping the world's central banks will be able to save them from the crisis set in motion by this summer's August 2007 credit collapse. If the truth be known—and someday it will be—central banks are at the very center of today's problems. Indeed, they caused them. Today's disintegration of capital markets based on debt-based paper began in 1913 with the creation of the US Federal Reserve Bank, the central bank of the US . …Debt-based paper money has led nations and the world down a very dangerous path. Facilitating expansion by encumbering future revenues with compounding debt inevitably indebts individuals, businesses, and governments beyond their ability to repay. In the beginning, production expands, needs are met and everyone goes home happy. In the end, everyone's home gets repossessed. This is when the amount of debt has grown so large, governments, businesses, and consumers collapse under its collective weight. That's where we are today. We lived off tomorrow and tomorrow has arrived. What a surprise. Although in the past, continuing central bank intervention has proved inadequate, the ignorant, unknowing and desperate are yet again hoping that Paulson's latest plan will save them. But the collective solutions of Bernanke, Paulson, et. al . will again prove wanting. Indeed, Paulson's and Bernanke's continuing attempts to reverse the accelerating credit contraction will only make the final rendering all the more devastating. What I wrote last year is true today—except, today, we are now one year closer to the inevitable end of this still unfolding crisis. cont'd, The Winter of Our Discontent October 1, 2007 ...As autumn approaches, this summer's credit crisis continues to spread through the global grid created by today's financial wizards—wizards so adept they do not understand what they have set in motion. That this summer's credit crisis surprised them the most is the most disturbing news of all. The financial wizards of Wall Street and The City are hoping this summer's credit crisis is a bad cold at worst, that perhaps a slight fever and time will heal the illness and they can return once again to the task of carving out billion-dollar bonuses from capitalism's rotting carcass ( sic capitalism, any economic system based on central bank issuance of debt-based paper money). But the wizards of Wall Street and The City will be wrong this fall. This summer's credit contraction looks increasingly less like a cold and more like cancer which has metastasized and made its way into the lymph nodes of our global economy. The credit contraction of August 2007 was not a cold. It was cancer and since then it has spread with increasing rapidity throughout the US and global economies; and, now, one year later, the ignorant, unknowing and desperate led by the deceitful, selfish and clever are hoping that its only pneumonia. CHINA 'S KEEPING THE PATIENT ALIVE Some are alleging that the US government's accelerating bailout of banks, insurance companies et. al. is socialism. Although it is government intervention in extremis , such intervention in the markets does not constitute socialism. The bailout of investment banks and corporations by the US government is fascism; the It bet the typical brainwashed american TED didnt even read the post like most sheeples in his case Penny....It seems that you have your eyes wide open
Is it time for a change America? I think all men that fought and died for this country thought the generations would rise up from the grave and fight this present government. We are being raped by both our politicians and big business. We need a change, a change in the way we elect federal officials. The framers of the constitution feared a large central government and tried hard to establish a federal government ruled by the citizens. We no longer have a citizen's congress. We have a congress of career politicians, who are driven by a lust of power and will use any means to stay in office. The power based is now controlled by big business. Our people are enslaved by credit debt. Most Americans now owe their souls to the company store. Our jobs are being exported so business can prosper, and we are told we must work for lower wages to compete with international labor. The number of Americans with health insurance is dropping, but the bottom line profits of companies like Wal-Mart are exploding. Yes, the framers of the constitution would revolt today. We need to revolt today. We need to reinstate a citizen's congress. We need a system that insures the elected officials who go to Washington go there with the needs of the people in mind. We need people to go to Washington who don't go there to be reelected. Perhaps the solution is as simple as establishing a minimum age requirement of 62 for a candidate to run for congress. Perhaps if we send people to Washington who have already lived their productive lives they would be less inclined to entrenched themselves in public office. The seat of government in Washington is much to powerful to be occupied by lifelong politicians. Even the most virtuous people can be corrupted by power over time.
HOW is this Idea: Liberals are Against Capitalism, right? So I ask you: BOYCOTT those companies who advocate? this huge toxic Bill--that Hurts American Capitalism. You can do a little research and find out if the owners of the companies you do Business with--support ANOTHER 410 BILLION dollar DEBT. How is that for a solution to this unfair passing of this PORK Laden Bill obama should veto?? Please tell me if you believe BOYCOTTING liberals companies who are against capitalism will send the message?
Why does Chairman Obama and the liberal imperial regime want to destroy our country? We already had one 9/11, WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER ONE! Never, in the history of this nation, has it found itself at the mercy of one very destructive man. A man with an agenda to embolden his Muslim brotherhood. The same brotherhood that started this nation on a path of self destruction on 9/11. Next with the acceptance of this individual as its president. Why are liberals against God, Capitalism, and the Security of the State? What motivates them to be against USA? They want to stop police and military from doing their jobs. Liberalism is a danger to our country. They are against GOD, CAPITALISM AND THE SECURITY OF THE STATE! Why are they even allowed to congregate in public? THEY ARE POISONING THE MINDS OF THE YOUTH WITH COMMUNISM!!! Liberals that are a threat to the state should be placed into labor camps for the rest of their lives. Liberal criminals should be executed. We could use their bodies for medical experiments. Does anyone have any FINAL solutions to the liberalism problem? A solution so that the American people would NEVER have to deal with this evil again!!?? Should they be voted out in 2010? We need to find a solution to this problem, and four years of this will be too little, too late. We need some ideas folks! Why are communist liberals against the AMERICAN principles of hard work, personal responsibility, and capitalism? You cannot support Obama's policies and America at the same time. Obama is a communist operative/sympathize that is destroying our economic and foreign power. He is also apologizing for our success and helping our enemies build power against us. He is against the AMERICAN principles of hard work, personal responsibility, and private ownership. He is using OUR tax payer dollars to fund communist projects and WEAKEN our sovereignty! He is fighting more wars, AIDING THE ENEMY, and QUADRUPLING our national debt! LIBERALS! I KNOW YOU ARE THERE! STAND UP AND JUSTIFY YOURSELF, NOW! Vote out the commies in 2010 and 2012! LIBERALS! DON'T YOU GET IT!!!!?????????? TERRORISTS WANT US ALL DEAD! THEY HATE OUR FREEDOMS! THEY WANT TO KILL US ALL!!!!! OBAMA IS THEIR ADVOCATE!!!!! THANK THE MILITARY FOR PROTECTING YOUR RIGHT TO DISAGREE WITH ME WHILE YOU CAN! He is weakening us! WE NEED TO FIGHT THEM OVER THERE BEFORE THEY COME HERE AND RAPE OUR WOMEN AND CHILDREN!

I make $22,000 per year and have have around $400 in credit card debt.(2%) And you?
Is Obama the real Manchurian Candidate, sure seems like it, eh? David Horowitz documents (excerpted and edited): The collapse of Communism in the early Nineties did not lead to an agonizing reappraisal of its radical agendas among many who had supported it . Instead, its survivors set about creating a new socialist international which would unite “social justice” movements, radical environmental groups, trade unions, and communists dedicated to the revival of utopian dreams. A second watershed came when George Soros decided to integrate the radicals – including the organization ACORN -- into the structure of Democratic Party politics. With a group of fellow billionaires, Soros created a “Shadow Party” whose purpose was to shape the 2004 presidential race. To achieve this, Soros created a galaxy of 527 political organizations headed by union leaders like SEIU chief Andrew Stern and Clinton operatives like Harold Ickes. Needing a policy brain, Soros created the Center for American Progress. All of this failed in 2004 but Soros went on working to create new elements such as the Apollo Alliance. Four years later the Shadow Party succeeded. They managed the election of a candidate who had spent his entire political career in the bowels of their movement. Obama’s election succeeded because of the wide latitude he was given by the press and the public. Why? Because he was the first African-American with a chance to be president and because the campaign was deliberately crafted to convey the impression that as a centrist he could bring Americans together to find common solutions to their problems. When confronted with his long-term associations and working partnerships with anti-American racists like Jeremiah Wright and anti-American radicals like William Ayers, Obama did deny the obvious and successfully side-stepped its implications. Now eight months into his presidency a new Barack Obama has emerged. With unseemly haste Obama has nearly bankrupted the federal government, amassing more debt in that eight months than all his predecessors combined. He has appeased America’s enemies abroad and attacked America’s intelligence services at home. He has rushed forward with programs that require sweeping changes in the American economy and is now steamrolling a massive new health-care program that will give the government unprecedented control of its citizens. http://www.frontpagemag.com/readArticle.aspx?ARTID=36267
Essay help PLEASEEEEEE? Companies in the United States that are making profits should not be allowed to pay employees minimum wage for more than six months of work. Shut-off notices of every kind are appearing on many employees’ doorsteps. It is time that we ask these companies to remove these shut-off notices off the kitchen tables of America. While many people disagree, I will explain why each claim against a cap on how long employees can be paid minimum wage is wrong and some solutions that will overcome those who oppose this view. Not only will these solutions say why we should move ahead with this idea, they will also give a reason why companies should be interested in the continued financial growth of their employees. First, I will begin with why this should be law, and then I will begin to list and debunk reasons why opponents of this idea do not want this to happen. Companies in the Unites States making profits should not be allowed to pay employees minimum wage for more than six months of work because of a variety of reasons. The first reason is that as our economy goes deeper into recession, companies are in need of consumers spending more money to get them out of it. The first attempt at doing this without wage changes was the stimulus sent out in 2008. What was proven was that a simple 300 or 600-dollar check was insufficient to bail out the U.S. economy. If companies were forced to give employees raises after six months of employment, weekly wages would go up for most full time workers. As those wages go up, there would be more income afforded for spending, and less need for most workers to continue living paycheck to paycheck. Opponents counter this reasoning by stating that there is no guarantee that those who gain more income will actually spend that money back into the economy. Although they are half-right—there is no guarantee that EVERY person will spend their money back into the economy—it has been proven that most people tend to spend increased income on discretionary things, therefore increasing economic growth. Following national trends, American spending has grown as wages have grown, and more and more companies have, up until this recession, made record profits. However, as more employees have been laid off, and as more and more wages and benefits have been cut, companies are seeing drastically reduced income and are facing record numbers of bankruptcies in many areas. Therefore, since logic would state that as wages grow, so do profits, then it would seem that forcing companies to give raises after six months would result in more profits over the long term. Another reason that companies making profits should have to pay workers more than minimum wage after six months is that as inflation rises, the ability of the American family to pay off debt and to live at their current means becomes more of a hardship, and eventually an impossibility. Not only do the prices of goods and services go up and wages stay the same, but even the most fundamental and basic things are seeing record high price changes. Electricity prices, gas prices, water prices, postage prices, and even sewage prices are going up, but minimum wage jobs are still paying the same. It’s time that we force companies to give raises rather than sit back while families lose their lights, lose their heat and eventually lose their hope. Increased income would be the fastest cure to this problem, and the easiest way to increase those incomes would be to force companies to pay their workers more. Opponents to this idea state that while inflation prices do rise, families can get financial help from government offices and agencies throughout each city. While this is true, these services are being overtaxed, and are unable to keep up with the demands of record number of assistance requests. In Salem, Oregon, the energy assistance program has been over run, and most people will have up to an hour and a half wait time just to speak with a human being who can help. And most of the time, they can only tell people to go to another program, because the funding has simply run out. Yet the needs of Americans have not changed. We cannot live without heat, we cannot live without water. We cannot have food in our fridges without electricity, we cannot survive without the basic things needed to live. And minimum wages, while companies make profits, cannot be tolerated. The answer to this argument is simple—we cannot rely on agencies to help us at this time. Instead, we must make these companies increase wages based, every six months, on the rise of inflation. Finally, the most important reason that companie in the United States making profits should be forced to pay more than minimum wage after six months is that as the nation’s population grows, so does its need for affordable healthcare. As more and more government mandates are becoming law on making companies offer affordable healthcare, more and more families are finding themselves unable to pay these c It's for a college class...writing 122 themselves unable to pay these costs, yet also afford regular bills. Now they have a choice between that dental work their kids need, or food on the table. Maybe they have a choice between chemo-therapy and keeping the heat on just a few more days, just until the next minimum wage check comes in, and they can live until the next paycheck. Since the government is going to begin fining these companies for not offering these programs, and workers are going to begin needing these services more and more, it is in the best interest of the company and the workers that they receive incremental raises. Opponents to this say that there is no reason that companies should raise wages just because employees need healthcare and other services. In other words, these opponents say that companies should not foot the bill for employees to receive quality medical attention and supplies. I find this idea to be both under-developed, and overly capitalistic. As companies began making these profits, they As companies began making these profits, they did so on the ability of their employees, on the ability of their employees to do the work needed both efficiently and correctly, and they did so on the ability of these employees to withstand the normal stress environments while continuing to provide results. But when these workers finally need some attention, these same companies are the same companies to point out that workers are not company responsibility, and that healthcare is not always a required item that they should help their employees get. Instead, most companies offer healthcare but do not pay employees the amount needed to afford these programs. At Radioshack, for instance, the place where I work, they offer employees quality healthcare—at a price that is about half of your weekly check. Not only do they ONLY pay minimum wage year round, they also only offer healthcare once a year. And yet, even though they finally offer that healthcare, the affordable piece of it drops right out. If I made even one dollar more per hour, I would make 40 dollars more per week, and 160 dollars more per month. This means that I would have paid for my healthcare costs for the month just based on the one dollar raise. Despite all of the data showing that an increase in wages might be more effective than any stimulus bill, companies are reluctant to raise anything except the price of goods and services. Yet they expect to hire less people, and pay their employees minimum wage. Through the evidence provided, there is no reason given that can explain why forcing companies that make profits to raise wages would be harmful to either the company, or the American economy. Based on the overwhelming information available, it would appear that the opponents to this idea are really just those trying to protect an old way of thinking—let the business do its business, and let the government stay out of business’s way. But as we continue to allow this to happen, more and more families are lo are losing their homes. More and more families are finding out that the American dream was little more than a fairytale lie. And sadly, more and more families are finding out what it really means to find themselves in desperation. Yet some of these companies continue making profits…And many of their workers continue bringing home the same old paychecks, leaving the economy in ruin, and leaving that shut-off notice on the kitchen table just one step closer to being all that is left of the American dream.
Is there any Ethics of Responsibility Left in Washington, or is it all Ethics of Intention? Does Gridlock in Washington Have a Source? Is Obama Being Honest When He Calls the Republicans Obstructionist? The one thing that we know is that nothing is getting done -- no jobs -- no fix for the economy -- no solution to the debt problem -- no solution to the trade deficit -- or to healthcare costs -- or to the Iran problem -- or to anything. Washington is paralysed in a curare-like state -- it might as well be a stuffed animal at the Natural History Museum -- in fact I think that's where the Congress should convene -- after their curare injections -- at least they could be used in diaramas and school kids could come and look at them. They would still be bone-idle, but at least useful for something. Now comes Obama to tell us that The GOP Congress people are being obstructionist. What an arrogant idea! He doesn't say that he Obama is a radical Marxist trying to harness the American people up to massive social programs that are filled with unfunded mandates and that are socialist in content and in outcome. He doesn't say that America is not a Marxist nation, so naturally there is a mismatch between his ideas and what Americans want. He doesn't say that when Congress blocks his insane Marxist agenda it is doing the People's Will. They don't want that agenda -- that's why Congress is blocking it. Obama's position is that Congress is the stubborn one, who really should just get out of his way, so that light could break forth from the clouds and progress could be made. The Obama worldview is ridiculously arrogant. He never considers the possibility that maybe nothing is being done because he wants everything his own way, and he refuses to triangulate, which he could do because there's a huge area of common agreement where Obama could just put that stuff in bills and get them passed and sign them. Huge areas of common ground. Obama walks by them, does nothing with them, says the whole problem is that the GOP is too stubborn. Obama is the source of the gridlock in Washington. More precisely it is his overweening arrogance -- the idea that he knows everything and that nobody else knows anything -- so if the bills are not 100% Obama Obama Obama and more Obama, then no point in even considering them -- he tells Pelosi and Reid just to suppress anything that's not 100% Progressive Caucus sourced. If it's not his agenda, it's not on paper in the Capitol. My way or the highway. And, by the way, the GOP guys are a bunch of obstructionists and naysayers. How about for this question only people that have read the question try to answer it. That way we get smarter answers, or at least more relevant ones. It's a serious question. There must be some person in America who is serious about politics -- they can't all be at the Gaga Tea Party Convention. We shall see, eh?
is talk radio GOOD for either conservatives OR liberals?..? the main 'sales force' for the Republicans and to a lesser extent for liberals as well IS TALK RADIO. In the USA TALK RADIO is primarliy funded by scam advertisments that even most 8 year old kids know are rip-off schemes.. Products such as- ''MALE ENLARGEMENT'' PILLS, COLON CLEASING SOLUTIONS, 'GET OUT OF DEBT QUICK' SCHEMES, HERBAL VIAGRA, ARE THE VOTERS/listeners who are susceptible to these types SHOWS which subsist off of clearly fraudulent advertisments good for ANY political movement, or are they the reason that american politics and quality of life keep spiraling downward? Do you 'TRUST' any talk show host to tell the truth politically if they are supported by deceptive scam advertisers? @ Attention- frankly, you are not telling the truth.. the majority of the political talk radio shows across the US run the same ADS for the same scam products, Non-FDA tested/approved Herbals pills, potions and snake oil.. the stupid must buy them as they have run these same SNAKE OIL SCAMS for years to subsidise these shows.. could these 'p3nis enlargement pill' purchasers who listen to talk radio be THE REASON our whole nation is collapsing under corrupt left and right politicians? @ eelfins- its not a issue of who controls the content of the shows.. can you trust someone who would claim to be giving you the TUTH or FACTS, but who is allowing scammers and non-fda approved pill pushers to fund your shows air-time?.. can you associate with a scam advertiser OR BILL AYRES, and still be credible after doing so.. doesnt this cut both ways?..
Will Obama be able to fix the fall out of the inflation bubble with the buy american plan? In the last 15 years imports have roase 1500% while exports dropped 1100%.The credit debt of Americans has increased along the same lines as there are fewer dollars from GDP going to workers. This meant consumption went up and industry went down. There American made products but the unfair big imports gangsters want to kill are working class.
Where is the best/honest place to go for debt consolidation or help with your debt? I was goin to try credit solution found out it was a scam now I'm thinking about trying American Credit Counseling Center.
Edit my report for me please? What Are the Causes and Effects of the Great Depression? The Great Depression has affected the United Sates in many ways and has caused a loss that we can never fully recover from. It was gap in U.S. history that had cost us many lives and jobs. The depression began in late 1929 and lasted for about a decade. The 1920’s or “The Roaring Twenties” played a big role in causes of the great depression. The 1920’s were a time of peace and great prosperity. After World War I, the “Roaring Twenties” was fueled by increased industrialization and new technologies, such as the radio and the automobile. Air flight was also becoming widespread, as well. The economy benefited greatly from the new life changing technologies. As the stock market soared, many investors quickly snapped up shares. Stocks were seen as extremely safe by most economists, due to the powerful 1920s boom. Investors soon purchased stock on margin. Margin is the borrowing of stock for the purpose of getting profit. If a stock drops too much, a margin holder could lose all of their money and owe their broker money as well. From 1921 to 1929, the stocks rocketed. Millionaires were created instantly. Soon stock market trading became America’s favorite pastime as investors bought stocks to make a quick profit. Investors mortgaged their homes, and foolishly invested their life savings in hot stocks, such as Ford and RCA. To the average investor, stocks were a sure thing. Few people actually studied the fundamentals of the companies they invested in. Thousands of fraud companies were formed to trick uneducated investors. Most investors never even thought a crash was possible. To them, the stock market “always went up”. By 1929 the stock market reached its all time high and investors were buying stocks by the dozen. Then all of a sudden prices started lowering. All investors sold their stock buy no one wanted to buy. This one day had caused a decade of Depression. The causes of the Great Depression In 1929 a panic on the New York stock Exchange introduced a mouth dropping effect. The stock market that had been giving everyone the profit they wanted collapsed. Several events that occurred before 1929 caused this to happen on a long term basis. During the roaring twenties everyone was prospering and making profit. The manufacturers were trying to sell there products to as much financial groups as possible, but they were unable to lower there prices so the poor can buy there products. (Lamb, Annette 2008). The government came out with the process of credit. It worked by a person buying a product over time paying a monthly bill. For example, if someone wanted to buy a washing machine that cost $500 but they only had $100. They would pay there $100 and then pay a certain amount every month till the washing machine was paid off. The government also charged the buyers more than the product actually cost in stores, so in the end they wound up paying more than the original price. This process put many Americans in debt. In record almost every American spent 75% of there yearly income on consumer goods. (Lamb, Annette 2008). When Americans put more on credit than they could afford they went into debt. This happened to many Americans making the nations total go down and causing a worldwide problem. The short term reason for the stock market crash of 1929 was the middleclass people getting into the stock market. Middle income people started buying stocks on margin in order to get themselves in on the economic boom the U.S. was having during the roaring twenties. At that time there were soaring prices for stocks. People paid a small percentage of a stock's price as down payment and borrowed the rest from a stockbroker. (Lamb, Annette 2008) The system worked well as long as stock prices were rising. If they fell, however, investors would have no money to pay off the loan. In September 1929, some investors began to think that stock prices became too high. They started selling their stocks, believing prices would soon go down. By Tuesday October 24, the gradual lowering of stock prices had become an all out slide downward. A panic resulted. Everyone wanted to sell stocks, and no one wanted to buy. Prices plunged to a new low on Tuesday October 29. A record 16 million stocks were sold. Then what Americans thought could never happen, the stock market collapsed. The effects of the Great Depression The Great Depression affected not only the people but the country as well. International trade and industrial production dropped sharply right after the stock market crash of 1929. Wages shrank, unemployment rose, and widespread misery proved that something was wrong with the economic system. The whole world felt the impact of this tragedy but Americans suffered it the worst. (Slee, Tom 2008) What people in America noticed almost instantly about the Depression was the reduction of their incomes. In addition to millions of wage earners who were thrown out of work entirely, millions more became part-time laborers. Even those who kept full-time jobs often had to accept a reduction in wages. (Slee, Tom 2008) In addition to the cut wages the Depression also affected international trade and manufacturing which shrank rapidly and filled many people with apprehension. In 1929 the estimated value of United States imports and exports had reached almost ten billion dollars. (Mandel, William 2008). By 1933 the value had dropped to three billion. Furthermore, American industrial output was cut in half. This had a big affect on the United States because most of there exports were used by the government to pay bills. With all the people taking there money out the bank to try and recover their savings, the banks went bankrupt. Thousands of banks were forced to close as a result of this. Business owners also suffered from the Depression. With there bills and debt rising they were no longer able to pay there workers or buy their products, and were forced to fire many workers. (Mandel, William 2008). It was hard to find affordable materials and eventually many businesses had no choice but to close. The dislocation of trade and industry, the falling prices, and the rising unemployment that came with the Depression forced statesmen and economists to seek remedies. But the experts could not agree in what was wrong or what measures would prove most effective in restoring the U.S economy. The solution to this problem would soon come. (Mandel, William 2008). During the 1930s the government was providing weapons, tanks and other much needed necessities to Great Britain under the lend-lease act. This was a pre-start to the coming war effort. In 1939 when America was hit at Pearl Harbor, World War Two struck out. Many Americans enlisted to go to war in order to get money and start a new life for there families. (Mandel, William 2008). With all the needed supplies for the war, the government hired people in factories to make weapons, munitions, tanks, airplanes and any other supplies needed for war. This was a big opportunity for unemployed people and many took the job as factory workers. As the unemployment rate was lowering so was American debt. (Mandel, William 2008). With people getting money and paying off there bills, they were able to buy everyday items to keep them going. This cycle opened many more businesses and eventually pulled the United States economy out of the Great Depression. ok well this is my social studies report on the causes and effects of the great depression. it is split into three parts. the first is the introduction and explains what led up to the great depression. the second is the causes and the third is the effects. i just need you just to edit my grammar and punctuation and im good. also i still need a conclusion if you can help me with that. :) ohh yea and the names with parenthesis and years are just giving credit to the sources i used. don't ask my teachers made me do it.... i did this all in like a night and i think i deserve to get it edited for all the work i went though. and i suck at grammar so i cant edit it myself.
How about this article??? It's kind of long, but really good!!? Unfortunately, if you dare to argue any of the many valid reasons against illegal immigration and amnesty, you will be called names and faced with a myriad of nonsensical excuses (from the pro-illegal alien crowd and their lobbyists): Tradition: MYTH: As George Bush said: "We are a land of immigrants". We can not pull up the drawbridge now, unless we dismantle the Statue of Liberty. Otherwise, we are all hypocrites. TRUTH: This is a common ploy. Yes, we are a land of immigrants. Mostly legal. We are enriched by legal immigration; not by massive, uncontrolled, illegal immigration. Economics: MYTH: The U.S. will crumble without illegal aliens. We need immigrants to pay the Social Security of the Baby Boomers when they begin to retire. Immigrants do jobs citizens won’t do. Who would pick our produce? Who would make the beds and wash the dishes? TRUTH: This is a common myth, since illegal aliens are costing U.S. tax payers a net loss of at least $70 billion per year. $70 billion will pick a lot of vegetables and fruit, eh? Humanitarianism: MYTH: You are selfish to put the needs of poor citizens ahead of more desperate people in other nations, by denying them entry into our country. The U.S. is obligated to share with others. Large-scale immigration is a significant way for the U.S. to help the impoverished people of the world. TRUTH: It is also selfish to forget to show compassion for your fellow citizens that go without because illegal aliens have stolen from and burdened our welfare, Medicaid, education, healthcare, hospital, E.R., Medicare, Social Security, law enforcement, prison, insurance, and voting systems. Diversity: MYTH: Increasing diversity through immigration is necessary to be true to our civil rights principles. Opposition to illegal immigration is racist. We are obligated to accommodate millions of immigrants per year because our strength is our diversity; the diversity of immigrants made America great. And, Christopher Columbus was the first illegal alien, and we stole the land from the Indians. TRUTH: That is the old stand-by. You are a racist. However, race has nothing to do with it since illegal aliens are of all races from all over the world. Diversity is good, but massive, uncontrolled, illegal immigration itself leads to racism due to chaos, societal disorder, resentments, and increased competition for a slice of a shrinking pie. Irredentism: MYTH: We have no right to secure U.S. borders, because U.S. borders are illegitimate to start with. The U.S. really belongs to the Indians and other neighboring nations, to start with. TRUTH: This is another lame argument. If you want to use that logic, we should all give back all of our nations to the original inhabitants, or their ancestors. This lame argument is just one of many that demonstrate how weak all of the pro-illegal alien arguments are. Cornucopianism: MYTH: The free market and technology will save us. We are the land of plenty. Besides, we need illegal aliens to grow out of our massive debt problems. They will become new tax payers, and we can grow our way out of debt. TRUTH: Even if that were true, does it justify using an under-paid underclass to remedy our debt problems? This simply does not make sense, since illegal aliens are costing U.S. taxpayers net losses of over $70 billion per year. Globalism: MYTH: We live in a global economy now, requiring new global solutions. Securing the U.S. borders is futile, since it is inadequate to deal with globalization. TRUTH: With increasing competition abroad, growing corporatism and corpocrisy, an increasingly irresponsible, bought-and-paid-for, elitist government, we can not grow, tax, or immigrate enough to eliminate our fiscal problems. Practicality: MYTH: It is not possible to deport 12+ million illegal aliens. TRUTH: There is no need to deport illegal aliens. We can help deport those that volunteer to be deported, but once the magnets are eliminated, illegal aliens will leave voluntarily The proposals to provide a Guest Worker Program is essentially a ruse. It is essentially an Amnesty Program, since illegal aliens will be allowed to stay, ridiculously complex rules associated with the Guest Worker Program will increase law enforcement duties and tracking requirements, many times over, and those laws will be not be enforced any more than current laws. And massive deportation is not necessary either. If the magnets that attract illegal aliens here are eliminated, illegal aliens will stop coming here, and many will leave voluntarily. Especially if we offer to pre-pay their transportation to return to their homeland, and provide a reasonable amount of money to help make their return trip home. Some may say that is unfair. However, U.S. citizens are justified to also have compassion for their own citizens, first. For those U.S. citizens supporting amnesty and a repeat of the 1986 amnesty . . . Where is the compassion for the victims of increased crime rates (Source: GAO-05-646R, based on a study group of 55,322 illegal aliens over a 57 year period; 29% of all incarcerated are illegal aliens) ? Where is the compassion for U.S. citizens that go without healthcare and access to E.R.s because ERs and hospitals are over-flowing with illegal aliens (of which many don't pay)? Is this fair to U.S. tax payers ? Where is the compassion for the truly needy U.S. citizens that can not get help because of limited resources and 32% of illegal aliens receiving welfare instead ? Where is the outrage of the greedy employers of illegal aliens ? Where is the compassion for the U.S. victims and survivors of crimes perpetrated by illegal aliens (29% of all prisoners are illegal aliens), and the crime rates are rising. Where is the compassion for U.S. citizens who's lives have been changed forever by illegal aliens that spread disease ? One illegal alien in Santa Barbara, California infected 56 other people with tuberculosis as reported on April 24, 2004, by the Santa Barbara Press-News, "Anatomy of an Outbreak". Because illegal alien migration into the USA continues unabated for the past 20 years, we now have 16,000 new cases of incurable MDR tuberculosis in the past five years. We suffer 7,000 new cases of leprosy. We tolerate 100,000 new cases of hepatitis "A" in our society. Chagas Disease, which affects 14 million South Americans and kills 50,000 annually, streams across our borders as unchecked thousands enter our society illegally. If your child goes to public school, they could be exposed, as thousands already have been. Where is the compassion for the U.S. tax payers that experience a net loss of about $70 billion per year due to all the numerous problems stemming from illegal aliens?
How long will Obama's "Fear Factor" continue to work? "Obama warns of dire consequences", all I hear from this guy is how much trouble we will be in if we don't follow his 'unproven' plan of borrow, spend and screw tomorrow. Are you young people REALLY LISTENING TO HIM? In my opinion, Obama and his family are part of the very few Americans "livin' the good life" on "other peoples money" and now he wants to use our money to bailout the rich and shameless. Interesting plan Barry has; I simply can't wait to see how this changed Clinton Administration will make our lives better. But, as Barry has said "It's going to get worse, first." Does that mean, the next generation of Americans have something to look forward to? More Debt? Thats no solution and it damn sure ain't no change over the last 5 decades. Thanks Barry, now I'm nervous. Didn't Bush use a quite similar tactic to start a War?
an opinion on a solution to our economic woes.(from an idealist with out any real knowledge about economy)? our congress just handed a bail out deal to the auto manufacturer's and also to the real estate magnates who started and perpetuated this whole financial fiasco to begin with. in the order of billions of tax payer dollars with out any regard to the general populace. what i mean is how does giving billions of dollars to the auto manufacturer's help sell cars if the citizens cannot buy them how does giving billions of dollars put workers back on assembly line if no one can purchase manufactured goods or products. if our congress was smart then they would realize that for only a few hundred million dollars rather than 25 billion they could turn our economy around in a few months rather than a few years. by giving the taxpayer back what is rightfully theirs to begin with. if our congress gave every registered taxpayer $50,000.00 then almost all of the citizens would be out of debt. the sales of luxury items would go through the roof and put millions of people back to work. giving most of us a chance at starting over allowing truckers who couldn't repair their vehicles to do so,people who didn't have the money to buy stock's or bonds would. the turn around would be almost instant, putting money back into states and local economies most importantly it would put people back to work. i realize some people would say why not a hundred thousand or a million, be cause that kind of money back to the people would lead to absolut chaos with no one going back to work, people trying to control other peoples money ... the court system would be virtually shut down and nothing would get produced. most americans total debt isnt more than twenty or so thousand dollars, so if our congress bailed the people out with a $50,000.00 stimulus package then most of us would be debt free we would be able to buy and purchase all kinds of products and even be abale to give something to out favored charities and other programs. the revenue created from sales taxes would put the money back into the national treasury and eeven if we had to pay a small 5 or 6% tax on that kind of stimulus package it would more than aptly jump start our ecomomy. rather than waiting for fannie may, chrysler, ford or g.m.c. to stategise and reconfigure thier market stategies whilst sipping mai- tais in hawaii. which is probably exactly whet our senetors and representatives want anyway so that they can get back to having brand new cars donated to thier campaign mangers and free time share in the bahamas!! thats my take..what do you think ?? by the way i wrote a simular letter to sentor mike crapo of idaho and all i got was a form letter reply. if you agree with this idealistic view i urge you to e-mail your representative or congressman. (my typing and writing skills are very poor please excuse multiple errors)
Why does Obama think that spending 4trillion on 'BS' and cutting $100million is a step in the right direction? So Obama and the democrats say Bush spent us into OBLIVION (debt). And their solution to Pres Bush spending spree is to spend 4x that amount on more frivolous stuff than bringing democracy to millions of oppressed people. THEN Obama says he is going to cut the Deficit in HALF, which means we will STILL be worse off then when he was ellected. Are the American people that STUPID? And I always heard how EVIL Bush was with his spending, but now that Obama has dwarfed Bush's Deficit spending the Liberals only talk about how the money HAD to be spent to save our economy? Either spending is a good idea or its not, and its not. But liberals only see that republican spending is wasteful and democrat spending is to SAVE THE CHILDREN. seriously people WAKE THE 'F' UP or there will not be an america for you children. PS thx Obama for saving the universe in your first 100 days. Actually didnt see it was DIY, sry usually defualt for these topics is politcal category. That asside my comment to you is that garden we are tending to does that have anything to do with expanding our presence in Afganistan?
Why the polls say Obama is worse than Bush? There is much more to the fact that President Obama now polls lower than President Bush did at fifty days into his presidency than merely what bi-partisan pollsters Schoen and Rasmussen were able to point out this week. In nearly every category of performance, President Obama has adeptly demonstrated that he is in over his head, and sinking fast. "We the people" sense his inability to make sound decisions and thusly, the President has wiped out nearly all of the Republican support he enjoyed not long ago, and Independents are not far behind. When you consider the sector of the Democratic base that thinks raising taxes on everyday working people is bad, you even begin to see a schism in his base not previously thought to be possible. Seriously, in nearly every category of governance he has messed up royally, and is clueless, or wantonly stubborn to do the things that will fix any of the problems. At the end of the day something will change. President Obama will formulate new policies, or "We The People" will use a shepherd's staff rather easily in 2012. In my syndicated column and on my blog, I have been tracking the number of campaign promises that he has broken. Yet many of these don't even rise to half the level of importance on the issues that "We The People" are growing increasingly concerned about. On the economy, the unemployment numbers have skyrocketed in the opposite direction, escalating especially hard following the signing of his stimulus plan. The plan, according to leading ecconomists, that only dedicated roughly 3% of the total amount towards actual job creation. On this point Warren Buffet, one of President Obama's strong supporters in the campaign, expressed grave reservation. One of the great lies that President Obama continues to try to perpetuate is to say that "going green" would jump start economic growth. At the same time, he restated in his address to Congress what he had said on the campaign trail: that no family earning less than $250,000 would see an increase in taxes. Yet every family in America is going to pay additional tax under his cap and trade program. By essentially punishing "evil big business" for carbon footprints, the feds claim they will tax said "evil" businesses to show them who's boss. Oddly enough, those "evil" businesses will never feel the sting because they will pass the cost of the imposed taxes on to the consumer in the form of higher prices for simple things like electricty, natural gas, and whatever forms of energy they may use. On foreign relations he spoke loud and long about removing embarrassment from the reputation of the United States to our allies. He prompty begins his administration by giving the very first sit down interviews to networks run by our enemies. He then thrice insults Great Britain, our closest ally of all. He is left with major distance between his wishes and those of Israel, our closest ally in the mid-east. And topping it off, this past week his administration dealt with Brazil, our closest ally in South America, with the same kind of "White House gift shop" hospitality he had just kicked Great Britain in the knees with. On national security Chavez has taunted him, North Korea has threatened him, Iran has burned him in effigy, and Russia, Cuba, and Venezuela are plotting ways to put Russian long range bombers in our hemisphere and directly off our coast. On terrorism Iran, Al Qaeda, and bin Ladin are openly laughing at him. Maybe his giving Hamas -- a terror group, on the international terror watch list -- 90 million dollars, wasn't quite the bold stroke of genius his cabinet told him it would be. No doubt, however, that President Obama's most pressing problem with the public is the fact that now 83% of the American people say they are worried that the steps he has taken to fix the economy will have the opposite effect and make things worse. 82% of the American people say they are worried about the monstrous rise in the national debt. 78% of the American people believe inflation will come quickly. And 69% do not have any confidence in the role of government mandated solutions to the economy. There is also now no sense in the American people that the stimulus will have any positive effect any time soon. Only 60% hold out hope that it will have any impact realized four years from now. Most importantly by a margin of 12% the American people believe the stimulus will only help and unfairly benefit those who have already been irresponsible. Every single one of the actions described and taken in this piece are actions connected directly to Obama. Remember, a clear majority of Americans thought any form of stimulus help should have come primarily through reducing the tax burden, not saddling it up for rides into the sunset. We've heard the word "crisis" roll off the lips of the administration like syrup in recent days. But now, President Obama has one of his own. His policies are failing But now, President Obama has one of his own. His policies are failing in every direction. "We The People" are worried. So for a man who campaigned on change, why not start practicing what you preach Mr. President? http://townhall.com/Columnists/KevinMcCullough/2009/03/15/why_the_polls_say_obama_is_worse_than_bush?page=full&comments=true "Can't get anyone to pay attention to your rant on your own blog, so you've come trolling here, is that it?" No. I've been here for months now, racked up quite a few points. Look at my posting history. The opinions I give. does that look like someone who is trolling? "Say any silly thing you please on your own site...but the people who exchange information on Yahoo!Answers are neither your captive audience nor denizens of your private fishing pond waiting for a hook." Oh wow. Look at who is the self appointed monitor of YA. 90 percent of the stuff posted here are rants. I do post this for an exchange of information. Your problem is that its information you dont want to hear. "If you have a question, ask it. If you have a diatribe, find another platform." Oh sheesh. Would you like to discuss the info contained in the article or not? "Nice rant.Your republican rant site doesn't interest me though otherwise I'd turn on FOX news.Got a more credible source?" Another typical cliched liberal response. Cant find anything to dispute the information so wave it away by attacking the messenger, but not the message. Its a Rassmussen poll. "In reality, here is what last week's WSJ/NBC poll found: "[Obama] is more popular than ever, Americans are hopeful about his leadership, and opposition Republicans are getting drubbed in public opinion". Here is the last-week's polling writeup from MSNBC.com:" You too attack the reliability of the source, then have the nerve to give me polls from NBC and MSNBC? And last weeks polls at that? The point of the polls is to show that Obamas populsarity is less than what Bush's was at around the same time frame. Apparently that went way over your head.
Can you explain the cause of the economic problems? What do you think is the cause of economic slowdown? I think it's a combination of the following: Cost of the war. Lack of savings by Americans. Overspending by Americans using high debt money(IE credit cards) Degradation of middleclass due to foreign competition. Please add your thoughts as well as any solution you may have. this is disturbing, the economy is a major issue and 4 people answer the question. up to 7,woo-hoo.Those who simply say Bush, are over simplifing the issue. No 1 man or single policy has a uniformally profound impact on something as dynamic as a nations economy. to me lack of savings is an issue due to the fact that it forces banks to acquire funds from the fed.this creates a two fold problem: in that we sell our debt on the world market, banks are forced to bid against foreign entities to acquire funds, this in turn increases the cost of the money, which in turn is passed along to the American consumer.Secondly,as the value of the dollar is decreased, banks holding our currency as well as foreign currencies are forced to back foreign currencies with a "cheaper" dollar which results in a net loss on currency related transactions. Loss of manufacturing sector jobs is important in that only manufacturing creates wealth through the conversion of raw materials into a value added finished product. All other economic endeavors only "swap" dollars.Wealth is not created, only exchanged. Some great answers today, thanks to all for caring:)
If lack of spending were the problem how did the recession hit when we and govt were spending like drunkards? Ron Paul asks that question and says the reason capital isn't investing now is that the government has decided to act, and no one has a clue what whim might enter the government's head for action, and capital doesn't want to take that risk. What do you think? Here is the whole speech: "This week, Congress and the administration once again showed their lack of economic understanding, as they ramped up spending to record levels. On the surface, maybe it does look to some like the economic crisis is a liquidity problem, that the economy is in trouble because money is not changing hands at the pace it once did in the boom years. They believe that to get back to a booming economy money needs to start changing hands again – and the quickest way to do this is for the federal government to massively expand spending to pump new money into the system. If this is the extent of their understanding, no wonder they call for spending, taxing, bailouts and inflation. If spending was the solution, we never would have had a problem. During the last eight years, we’ve blown up the size of government and certainly had no want of spending on foreign or domestic policy. The Bush administration increased spending almost 20% its first term, and nearly doubled the national debt by the end of the second term. Certainly the case cannot be made that lack of government spending created the problem or can be the solution. This is mirrored in American households. According to CNN private sector debt is 365% of private sector gross domestic product. Many relied simply on steady and continued increases in home values to enable spending and secure more debt. That trend has proven unsustainable and many Americans are adjusting their finances accordingly. For the first time, household debt is beginning to fall as consumers wake up to the realities of paying off debt and living within their means. Wouldn’t it be great if the government would do the same? A lot of capital and liquidity is out there waiting in the wings as the new administration is bringing about government uncertainty, a concept discussed by Robert Higgs as prolonging the Great Depression. In other words, it is a foregone conclusion that government will act. But, like a chicken with its head cut off, no one knows which way it will run, just that it will flail about wildly until it collapses. Why start a business, when businesses could face the brunt of an increase in future taxation? Similarly, why hire a new employee if tax policy will just force you to fire them later on to stay afloat? Why buy a house, when you have no idea how future government meddling in the housing market will affect its value? Why spend at the shopping mall, or buy a new car when you don’t know how tax policy will affect your family budget, or if your job will come under the axe because your employer’s tax burden is increased? I argue that these kinds of questions and concerns contribute to the weakening economy. This type of tax policy keeps capital out of third-world nations, and now is keeping capital in hiding here in the US. People are concerned about security and savings again, retrenching their household and business budgets. The economy could be helped if the government would just get out of the way and restore sound monetary and fiscal policies. N, I don't think that is what Ron Paul is saying. But I disagree with government dictating the economy. I think we should let it go to true, sustainable levels. I think cutting oil subsidies should precede discussion of taxation.
Please add some correction and help me to get my essay better!? Title: The American Dream Chasing the American dream and obtaining possessions, still is a dream that shatters into millions of particles. Living the American dream is a long lasting journey to a successful life and having the opportunities to achieve goals. Every enchanted fairytales always have a happily every ending, but not the American Dream. The American Dream it’s like a thousand miles of volcanoes ashes rushing down the mountain of raucous corruption. The life of succeeding has started to fading away as economic, technology, and debt begins to maintain a higher financial problem in the United States. Every day in people life struggling through hardship and trying to break the barriers of depression can led to difficulty. The article called Wealth gap swallows up American Dream by Noelle Knox, a man name Ezequiel Quiroz, a twenty-seven year old tow truck driver says “Sometimes it bothers me that a lot of rich people look at you like you're nothing because you're not driving a BMW or expensive car. They make you feel like you're nothing." The inequity experience Quiroz has indicated the American society has been classified through sexism, judgmental, status, and racial discrimination. The reality of living in the American Dream takes big step to achieve every solution. If I want to earn big I have to work hard in what I do. I hate to say the American dream have to do with money. No matter where you go and what you want. Money can only resolve in the American Dream society. People believe fulfilling the American dream concludes with living like royalty. Our society has lost all of its moral values and the American dream has withered away into a greedy self fulfilling prophecy. Therefore in the U.S. Constitution, it says the Americans are entitled to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". I incessantly see people to pursuit of material prosperity than living a simple life. Yet today people tell me the American Dream is gone because of terrorist threats, political party in fighting, lack of health care, the cost of college tuition, the corporation of government, George Bush, investment, and bank scandals. We are rich in things, but poor in happiness. The dream has becoming a nightmare for us to succeed. I think you have to be asleep to believe the American Dream as the ideal lifestyle. In the article called Two Thirds Feel American Dream Harder to Achieve, by Robert Longley. “Two-thirds of the American people say the American Dream is becoming harder to achieve, especially for young families, and they point to financial insecurity and poor quality public education as the most significant barriers.” People today focus too much of striving themselves to fulfills their duties instead they have forgotten the American Dream have started to fade away. Furthermore poverty have a huge significant issues in the American Dream because it harder for those to achieve mobility. Included, workers are not having an average wages to earn above the official poverty line. The growing gap between the society and the American Dream has become separated for people to reach because of the entire tragic economic and the political issues. The vision of the American Dream needs to manage a better view for people to realize a dream takes decades to form an equal positive living. We have not reach the standard of what makes up the American Dream yet, but we hope the American Dream can set a new beginning for people to step up and take the opportunity to accomplish every purpose. In addition, we still dream on for the next generation and hope to prevent outcomes in the United States. Lastly, the American Dream needs to determine the meaning of life and succeeding the dream of stability.
America Becoming a Nation Of Debts? People were dogged with the past memory, with the thought of voting for Clinton because a win for Hillary would put her husband, the former president, back in the White House too: "Oh God,With Bill Clinton. All our Life's was so good back with Clinton."as acclaims, going forward with this assumptions actually USA going near to a bankrupt country for sure, we might as well consider bring back the spirit of Abraham Lincoln to Washington. Now we now living dangerous becoming a Country of Communism Socialize Union past,Only Bush/Clinton Have the the only RIGHT to be American President attitudes sooner or later we shall see a DYING UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. We have been Living so close with Ideologies of the Father\Son\Husband\Wife\Daughter Monarchy of Bush/Clinton Dynasty. Hillary was right to mentioned during the Texas rally " America needs to BORROW MONEY even from his "FOE CHINA" just to buy Oil as payment to Saudi" "What happened to other American Allies?like UK,Japan, maybe they have exhausted too much already, Perharps the most closest America ally like Saudi may start to wary of America ability to pay, as old debt accumulates,.in asking the payment upfront from USA. Now America have new reputations "World-Wide eyes as Nation of Debts!!!"Many his Allies now trying to avoid at any cost from America, they're removing their fund from USA banks.During Bush /Clinton terms were cause of letting the" LOBBYIST" to dance with ideas with Sub-Prime Mortgage are their faster solutions as early in 2000, they can thinks of,Which I Views as "SWEEP UNDER THE CARPET" solutions by their administration which the people feels everywhere the easy money lies, during their terms american having a happy attitudes settled them well, they adopted this, to solve nation temporary problems, but only now that many people realised how TRUE to be homeless now with forecloses and bankruptcies pettitions,Only now they start to realises the decisions made by so called Commander-In-Cheif .
Have people stopped using their brains and just started defending one political group or another .? Seems people who like Bush do not like Clinton . How about the truth is that both of them are wrong . That selling out American jobs and creating massive debts is whats wrong . That illegals really do not belong here regardless of how much help they are in the service industry . That unless we begin to solve problems using modern solutions and new Ideas we will continue to repeat the past . I know that what has happened in the past has been a miserable failure . That the policies of this government has lead to oppression , war , and the deaths of millions of people and that was just during our own Civil War . That Sherman's march through the south resulted in communities of people being burned out and women raped and young and old men shot and killed where they stood unarmed . If we as a people resort to violence to solve our problems then nothing is ever going to change . Blaming the democrats or republicans for any war misses the point entirely . War is irrational .
The president does not control the economy? I am sick and tired of people looking towards presidential candidates and the president for economic solutions. Some where along the line the American people started looking for the answers to domestic problems on a federal level; “Who is going to get me out of debt? Who is going make sure my kids go to college? I understand the president can have some effect on the economy but the answer is not in government to fix the problems. The answer is in free market capitalism. No matter how much one wants to take away the profits of corporations through obscene tax hikes, they will continue to make money, which is good thing. All the president can do to help the economy is to reduce regulation and taxes. If any president punishes corporations for making to much money or caps the price of gasoline then we do not have a president we have a king. It makes me sick to think of how many people support the idea of a gasoline price cap and punishing the oil companies for too much profit. We need less interference from the government and more freedom to allow business to reach the demands of the people. I want a president who doesn’t know shit about the economy and leaves it to the private sector!
Do you agree with what Ron Paul wrote about on illegal immigration what is your opinion? For decades we have welcomed new immigrants to our American "melting pot". We respect those who come here peacefully to pursue their American Dream. But Americans have noticed lately that modern problems associated with illegal immigration are at a crisis point. Taxpayers are now suffering the consequences. Costs of social services for the estimated 21 million illegal immigrants in this country are approaching $400 billion. We educate 4.2 million children of illegals at a cost of $13.8 billion. There have been almost 2 million anchor babies born in this country since 2002, with labor and delivery costs of between $3 and 6 billion. There are currently 360,000 illegals in our prisons and we have spent $1.4 billion to incarcerate them since 2001. In Prince William County near DC, ICE can't deport criminal illegals fast enough and has actually asked its local jails to slow down on referring them. Jurisdiction over illegal immigration lies at the federal level, yet many municipalities are struggling with the compounding problems of mandated costs and tied hands. My office has heard from at least one sheriff in my district considering seeking compensation from the Federal government for the cost of so many illegal immigrant inmates that wouldn't be here if the Federal government was doing its job and protecting our borders. The problems are widespread. One thing is certain: If we subsidize them, they will come. We have rolled out the social services red carpet, so it is no surprise that many from other countries are eager to come take advantage of our very generous system. We must return to the American principle of personal responsibility. We must expect those who come here to take care of themselves and respect our laws. Not only is this the right thing to do for our overtaxed citizens, but we simply have no choice. We can't afford these policies anymore. Since we are $60 trillion in debt, there should be no taxpayer-paid benefits for non-citizens. My bill, the Social Security for American Citizens Only Act, stops non-citizens from collecting Social Security Benefits. This bill, by the way, picked up three new cosponsors this week and is gaining momentum. Also, we should not be awarding automatic citizenship to children born here minutes after their mothers illegally cross the border. It just doesn't make sense. The practice of birthright citizenship is an aberration of the original intent of the 14th amendment, the purpose of which was never to allow lawbreakers to bleed taxpayers of welfare benefits. I have introduced HJ Res 46 to address this loophole. Other Western countries such as Australia , France , and England have stopped birth-right citizenship. It is only reasonable that we do the same. We must also empower local and state officials to deal with problems the Federal government can't or won't address. Actions like this are a matter of national security at this point. Illegal immigration is draining and frustrating the American taxpayer. I will continue to work for a solution that does not reward those who break our laws. http://www.house.gov/paul/tst/tst2008/tst021708.htm
Why is the DREAM Act unfair, irresponsible and disastrous if it is adopted? Many leaders of both parties in Congress are pushing for the DREAM Act, which would grant reduced tuition and legal permanent residency to possibly millions of students who have been in the United States illegally. Why is the DREAM Act unfair, irresponsible and disastrous if it is adopted? College tuition has skyrocketed in recent years. Many Americans cannot afford college or have taken out student loans. Should the United States neglect its own citizens and subsidize the education of students who are here illegally? Proponents of the DREAM Act argue that parents of illegal students have paid taxes and that the United States should invest in them. The hard truth is that most illegal workers, due to their low-incomes, do not pay enough taxes to offset the cost of educating their children in American public grade schools. This cost can exceed $9,500 per child per year if the student receives the so-called bilingual education, not to mention the costs of other social services. Furthermore, rewarding illegal foreign nationals can only lead to higher illegal immigration. The misnamed “Immigration Reform and Control Act” of 1986 granted amnesty to 3 million illegal migrants. Presently, we have an estimated 12 to 20 million illegal migrants in the United States, without counting their children born here who are U.S. citizens. There were “1.8 million undocumented children in local school districts” across the United States, according to a report published by Business Week Online April 7, 2006. Billions of bonds in recent years have been passed to fund our schools. Is borrowing into the future a responsible solution? Open border advocates claim that money spent on the Iraq war and taxing wealthy individuals in the United States could generate plenty of resources to pay for costly services provided to foreign-born newcomers and their U.S.-born children. But the impact of exploding immigration-driven population growth is more than fiscal. If we grant amnesty to millions of illegal students, once naturalized, they could petition for their parents and siblings to immigrate to the United States. In addition, they will have children born here. Those newcomers will consume energy and water, like all other residents, thus exacerbating our energy and water shortages. We cannot ignore the political impact of the DREAM Act. Many Hispanic activists pushing for amnesty have publicly stated: “Today, we march. Tomorrow, we vote.” During last year’s massive demonstrations across the United States, many protestors were waving Mexican flags and pressuring the United States with demands identical to Mexico’s. Considering that in recent years, our national elections were very close, it is unlikely that our immigration laws will be seriously enforced in the future if millions of newly naturalized citizens promoting open borders are able to vote in our future elections. Should we allow migration to strongly influence our elections and policies? The U.S. population has quadrupled since 1900, from 76 million to 303 million. In the last 15 years alone, over 50 million people have been added to the United States mostly due to immigration-derived growth! If our population continues to grow at the rate of last decade, by 2100—within the lifetimes of today’s children’s children—the United States will have India’s current population. Do Hispanic legal residents really want the United States to become another Latin America, India or Philippines, the corrupt, overpopulated and impoverished nations that they or their ancestors left? Latin America has 37 billionaires. Why shouldn’t they and other countries work to improve life for their own citizens? Congress must realize that the United States is now the greatest debtor nation in human history, while China holds the world’s largest foreign currency reserves. We owe China $450 billion in federal debt. We also have the highest budget and trade deficits in the world. The Euro, weaker than the dollar 10 years ago, is now worth over $1.40. American students fall behind their counterparts in many countries in Asia due in part to an explosion of immigration-related enrollments: Many grade schools are overwhelmed with children speaking little to no English. Can this country remain prosperous if we have a growing semi-literate student population? Nationwide, over 75 percent of our adult cash welfare recipients are 20 to 39 years old. Some growers in Idaho and Colorado are using non-violent prisoners to replace illegal migrants. Isn’t it in the interests of Hispanic and other Americans to oppose the DREAM Act and other amnesty proposals, and to demand that our immigration laws be enforced as strictly as Mexico so that we can put all adult able-bodied welfare recipients and non-violent prison inmates to fill positions currently held by illegal migrants?
What is the U.S known to be number one in the world for? Besides number one in the world per capita for imprisoning it's people. Number one in spending more money on prisons than schools in the world. Number one in spending more money on military industrial complex than any other country including China, Russia and Europe combined. Number one in consumer debt. Number one in national debt. Number one in illicit drug use. We are also losing ground to Europe in terms of the number of scientists we produce in this country. Our dollar is losing ground, and the American worker is losing ground in terms of workers rights against powerful corporations and their lobbyists who are cozy with D.C political insiders. On this July 4th, can you suggest ways of making our country better and solving these problems without saying get rid of liberals or without saying get rid of conservatives. What are some real solutions to our problems? http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2008/04/22/us/20080423_PRISON_GRAPHIC.html#
sub-prime lending issue? Over the last few years, banks were heavily involved in ‘sub-prime home lending.’ Basically, they were giving away home loans that offered 100 percent financing, with no downpayment required, poor credit was not a problem and you didn’t need to verify income. As a result, many people with poor credit and unstable incomes rushed to buy a piece of the American Dream – a house. Typically, these loans offered a low rate for two years (7.00% to 8.00%) with interest-only payments. After this, the rate would jump to 10.00 to 11.00% and so would the payments. People were told to spend the first two years concentrating on how to fix their poor credit records and to stabilize their household incomes. Unfortunately, many borrowers didn’t follow this advice. Today we have a huge foreclosure problem as a result of this reckless lending over the past few years. How could bankers be so stupid? Where were the federal regulators? Why didn’t people see a financial planner or CPA before they made the decision to take on so much debt with questionable terms? Please write a one to two page commentary on your impression of the sub-prime lending issue. However, please make sure that you list a few solutions to this massive problem. If you were the President of the United States or a congressperson, what would you propose to do? If you were a CPA or Financial Planner, what advice would you give your clients who are in this mess? I look forward to your responses on this hot issue of the day.

Static NEVER lie? THE BEST MAN WIN POLICY The white points of arguments are this,South Carolina primary definitely goes for Obama since its was supported by black majority,so in his argument is that, what's is wrong if Ohio supports goes to Clinton as they're the majority white. He carry on to mentions, when the white supports the white, the black said it's purely base on racial line,But when the black support the black,it's not racial as he said,(they never had once to have the Black President of USA)it's understandable natural propective reactions (on my personel opinion) But My points here that they're both wrong in either ways,to engage and feels the backward uncivize past arguements, whereas our forefathers already reached and settled this issues before(as we always heard the proverb(The Two Wrongs,Doesn't make One Right), by playing this dirty card tactics that divided us as a nation,as it looks like a bunch of plain sore losers score attitudes by both parties, particularly during this very Important Elections that people still using these cheap-skate execuses to raises their sentiments. It's much easier to Raise One's Sentiments, just only at finger tip moments ,then to create One Unity,as our forefathers does a Century ago to reach a common ground. I can understand the history beneath the root feelings of both parties,(Consensus, togetherness we're much Stronger)On the part of the white please do takes this opportunity and reality, so called the first black president's candidate that's most, brilliant, with fascinating intellectual mind,if you really cares to know and read either one of his published books, to get insight know him better. A law graduate from our top-notch finest University our land can offer,Harvard Law's School,he also happened to be Harvard's first black President of it's 104 years history and also Harvard's Law School first as the President's Candidate. He also has a very warm personality as a person, the brightest, even amongst our white in our nation,The best "Man Win" policy should be the major consideration in picking a President for Democratic Nation rather a color of his skin, Americans should understand this all about their forefathers of America believing in,This is what the Constitution of United States all about stated, that relects in their earlier struggles days, the root of true aspirations and enthusiast lies with INTELLECTUAL ability instead rather going forward with SENTIMENTS feelings, we are becoming a country of MONARCHY approach as we heard everywhere people were saying with the same dilemma,we can see on this Candidate that has been reflecting the Highest ever turnout at Primaries history. Can someone please help me think of a conclusion for this??? There were many problems with the United States before it became an independent nation. The types of problems included were political, economic, and also social problems. Since Britain was in control of the United States at this time, they had no control over any laws, prices of goods, or the power to find solutions to certain problems. Basically the United States had a lot of problems with Political, Economic, and also Social situtations before they United into one nation. Also Latin America had the same problems so that’s how the Latin American revolution started. The causes of revolution of political is that people in all three estates didn’t like the the Britain rules, because they wanted to control the people as if they were slaves and third estates didn’t like that. Political Revolutions are contrasted with social revolutions in which old property relations are overturned. The political cause for French Revolution is that the political effects were the extensive control of the Vienna Congress on the French Government. The cause of French revolution and Latin American in economic is that France’s government was virtually bankrupt and in debt. The immediate cause of the French Revolution was the near collapse of government finances. Since 1614, which was the last meeting of the Estates General before the revolutionary era, the French monarchy had carried out its business without resort to a legislature. In all estates the third estates had to pay a lot of taxes and that caused the part of revolution. The social problems that caused the revolution was that the first and second estates wanted more land then what they have right now. Origins of the revolution can be viewed socially because the Enlightenment and the American War for Independence, also played a big role influencing revolutionary thinkers in France. The social causes of the war for independence in the 13 Colonies and Colonial Latin America were influenced by the social structure and also, Latin America had different revolutions occurring throughout the continent of South America in the 1800s. I don't know what I can do for a conclusion for this... can someone please help me think of one?? thanks a lot!!
what are the myths concerning the Iraq War?? Top 10 Myths of the Iraq War & Why They Are Not So..... Quote Top 10 Myths of the Iraq War & Why They Are Not So..... Here is an excellent run down of the Myths that are circulating about the War In Iraq along with why they are not true: January 28, 2007: Top 10 Myths of the Iraq War. In no particular order. There are more, but ten is a manageable number. 1-No Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD). Several hundred chemical weapons were found, and Saddam had all his WMD scientists and technicians ready. Just end the sanctions and add money, and the weapons would be back in production within a year. At the time of the invasion, all intelligence agencies, world-wide, believed Saddam still had a functioning WMD program. Saddam had shut them down because of the cost, but created the illusion that the program was still operating in order to fool the Iranians. The Iranians wanted revenge on Saddam because of the Iraq invasion of Iran in 1980, and the eight year war that followed. 2-The 2003 Invasion was Illegal. Only according to some in the UN. By that standard, the invasion of Kosovo and bombing of Serbia in 1999 was also illegal. Saddam was already at war with the U.S. and Britain, because Iraq had not carried out the terms of the 1991 ceasefire, and was trying to shoot down coalition aircraft patrolling the no-fly zone. 3-Sanctions were working. The sanctions worked for Saddam, not for Iraq. Saddam used the sanctions as an excuse to punish the Shia majority for their 1991 uprising, and help prevent a new one. The "Oil For Food" program was corrupted with the help of bribed UN officials, and mass media outlets that believed Iraqi propaganda. Saddam was waiting out the sanctions, and bribing France, Russia and China, with promises of oil contracts and debt repayments, to convince the UN to lift the sanctions. 4-Overthrowing Saddam Only Helped Iran. Of course, and this was supposed to make Iran more approachable and open to negotiations. With the Iraqi "threat" gone, it was believed that Iran might lose its radical ways and behave. Iran got worse as a supporter of terrorism and developer of WMD. Irans clerical dictatorship did not want a democracy next door. The ancient struggle between the Iranians and Arabs was brought to the surface, and the UN became more active in dealing with problems caused by pro-terrorist government of Iran. As a result of this, the Iranian police state has faced more internal dissent. From inside Iran, Iraq does not look like an Iranian victory. 5-The Invasion Was a Failure. Saddam's police state was overthrown and a democracy established, which was the objective of the operation. Peace did not ensue because Saddam's supporters, the Sunni Arab minority, were not willing to deal with majority rule, and war crimes trials. A terror campaign followed. Few expected the Sunni Arabs to be so stupid. There's a lesson to be learned there. 6-The Invasion Helped Al Qaeda. Compared to what? Al Qaeda was a growing movement before 2003, and before 2001. But after the Iraq invasion, and especially the Sunni Arab terrorism, al Qaeda fell in popularity throughout the Moslem world. Arab countries cracked down on al Qaeda operations more than ever before. Without the Iraq invasion, al Qaeda would still have safe havens all over the Arab world. 7-Iraq Is In A State of Civil War. Then so was Britain when the IRA was active, and so is Spain today because ETA is still active. Both IRA and ETA are terrorist organizations based on ethnic identity. India also has tribal separatist rebels who are quite active. That's not considered a civil war. This is all about partisans playing with labels for political ends, not accurately describing a terror campaign. 8-Iraqis Were Better Off Under Saddam. Most Iraqis disagree. Check election results and opinion polls. Reporters tend to ask Iraqi Sunni Arabs this question, but they were the only ones who benefited from Saddams rule. 9-The Iraq War Caused Islamic Terrorism to Increase in Europe. The Moslem unrest in Europe was there before 2001, and 2003. Interviews of Islamic radicals in Europe reveals that the hatred is not motivated by Iraq, but by daily encounters with hostile natives. Blaming Islamic terrorism on Iraq is another attempt to avoid dealing with a homegrown problem. 10- The War in Iraq is Lost. By what measure? Saddam and his Baath party are out of power. There is a democratically elected government. Part of the Sunni Arab minority continues to support terror attacks, in an attempt to restore the Sunni Arab dictatorship. In response, extremist Shia Arabs formed vigilante death squads to expel all Sunni Arabs. Given the history of democracy in the Middle East, Iraq is working through its problems. Otherwise, one is to believe that the Arabs are incapable of democracy and only a tyrant like Saddam can make Iraqi "work." If democracy were easy, the Arab states would all have it. There are problems, and solutions have to be found and implemented. That takes time, but Americans have, since the 18th century, grown weary of wars after three years. If the war goes on longer, the politicians have to scramble to survive the bad press and opinion polls. Opposition politicians take advantage of the situation, but this has nothing to do with Iraq, and everything to do with local politics in the United States. Source: Strategy Page
