How do I create a debt management program? I did an internet search and all lead me to already established debt programs. I want to set up my own debt management program, which can negotiate with creditors, consolidate loans etc... How do I get started? I reiterate: There are literally thousands of debt management, consolidation, counseling website and resources. I am not looking to manage my own debts, I looking to start a debt management program for other people. I want to know what grants to apply for to begin a start up program. I want to know what regulations, fees, licenses I need to start my own debt management program so that others can come to me for debt consolidation services.
What happens if you get out of a debt management program? Im a 22 year old full time college student with a part time job. About three months ago I joined in charge debt solutions because I thought it would be easier for me to manage my credit card bills that way. However now after joining, I'm realizing that Im unable to keep up with the payments Im making to them. It's like after my other bills and this payment are taken out every month, I hardly have any money left and I think I've put myself in a bind. If I leave the program now will this mess up my credit, will it make it harder for me to join a debt management program in the future, will my creditors be resistant to work things out with me in the future because of this? I simply just can't afford to be in the program now.
Can you get a home equity loan while in a debt management program? I just entered a debt management program to get control over my credit card debt. I have done this seperate from my husband. Only my credit is affected. Just after I entered into the program, my husband started showing interest in a home equity loan to consolidate our debt (his credit card and vehicles) and do home improvements. In our marriage I am responsible for my own debts, but I am wondering if being in the DMP will affect the chances of us obtaining the Home eq. Loan. Serious educated replies will be very much appreciated.
How to pay off credit cards enrolled in a debt management program? I have been in a debt management program with a local credit counseling service for about 8 months. My parents have offered to co-sign a loan so I can pay off the cards. The loan with the bank is a lower interest rate than the cards and will pay them off faster with a lower payment each month. Should I pay the cards directly or go through the credit counseling service? Which is better for my credit score?

I signed up with a debt management company due to a large amount of credit card debt I accumulated. This was after I read that this can be equivalent to filing for bankruptcy? Is it really that bad? Years ago I maxed out all my credit cards and had to go through a debt management program? to pay them all off. I succeeded in getting them all paid off except for 1, which I'm still paying on. Entering into credit counseling with a debt management program? I am entering into a debt management program with a credit counseling company. I have about $17500 in debt & my payment with the company would be about $400 a month. My question is, would creditors be willing to accept 1/2 of the minimum balance that is due usually...I have 3 cards I'm in debt with...one is $285/month, $185/month, $165/month. I'm already 2 payments behind with 2 of the cards. Would the credit card companies accept a personal offer of 1/2 the usual minimum for a certain time frame? So I'd offer them $142.50, $92.50, $82.50. Or since I'm already behind on payments should I stick with the debt management program (I just signed on with them & have to make my first payment on 9/28) & wait until I've been in the program a few months & then try to talk personally to my creditors & see what I can offer at that time??
Would it be possible to cosign for a college loan after using a DMP (debt management program) ? I am considering a DMP (debt amangement program) but I have 2 children in college and I will need to cosign for their loans? Would I be able to cosign before I finish the program? If not, how long before I could cosign a college loan? The payments would be deferred until after graduation.

I have about 25000 of debt but can still pay montlhy payments on time and never missed a payment...if I try to get a personal loan from say lendingtree.com as opposed to a debt management program which looks better to creditors?? My beacon score is around 650-670....I am going to a credit counseling agency to see what they think....they are HUD approved and non-profit. I still have some assets stocks and bonds totaling 6000...I do get paid consistently and been trying some internet surveys to make some small money on the side to my job. What things should I look for at the credit counseling agency? Such as if they are legit or not in my situation?
How is my credit affected by being in a debt management program? I'm hoping to apply for a mortgage loan soon, how will this affect me. I'm in a program that will pay off my credit cards in less than 3 years. I have 1 1/2 years left in the program.
Joined a debt management program because credit card companies would not lower interest rate - please advise? I am a mother of 5 children, and because of everyday living cost is so high I used my creditcards to buy groceries, etc., while working part-time. I just started working full-time and the interest rate went up on the creditcards and they would not lower their rates but they did when I joined a debt management program. Will this harm my credit more, I have no other avenues. I can't file bankruptcy. I am really trying but it is very hard.

Canceling Debt Management Program? Are you able to cancel a debt management program after a few years if you find a better solution to your debt? I have been with InCharge since 2004, and think that there may be a better program and solution that I can easily afford (compared to InCharge), but I cannot get through to anyone at IC and cannot find my agreement. Any idea?
I am considering to enrol for a debt management program it is a company named DMB Financial reliable? I have a huge amount of credit card debts and for some of them I am back in monthly payments, I received this publicity by mail from DMB Financial offering a management debt program but now I am scare to take a wrong desition and end with more troubles. Last year I quit my job and I start using my credits cards more than usual thinking that it was a transitory situation I immediatly start receiving offers from my differents credit cards companies increasing the amount of my credit limit and offering 0% interest with checks that I could use "for anything I wanted" now I have a job and recently I took a second job but at 29% apr it is almost impossible for my to pay my debts or even to put the accounts up to date, I am behind and even if " I knew" the risks when I was using this money I feel like I felt in a trap somehow organized, I am a hard worker and I always honored my debts and psycologically I feel very bad to go and say "icannot pay the money I took from you" but it should be illegal to change the rules that way, they give you the money lets say at 7% which it is already 3 times the amount you can get if you put the money in a saving account and then they told you you owe then at 29% we are talking about an increase of 400%!!!
Do I try to pay back credit debt or use debt management program. Around 80,000& I am deeply behind.? Firstly, because of medical issues, I got far behind in paying my credit debt. so now the interest alone on the debt is unimaginably high that I couldn't keep up. Do I use debt management program or do I pay back debt paying the highest interest first? If I do this, I will be behind with the other creditors and so the cycle continues. Help. I am desperate. I have around 80000 credit debt ( I realize that is a lot) but we used to have very good credit rating until I had my medical issues and had to miss work.
Credit Solution Debt Management Program help!!!!!? I have recently enrolled in Credit Solution Debt Management Program and I am not sure if I should keep investing in this program. Should I be more patient or should I just cancel the account. Please help because I dont know if my money is going to my benefit. I am not sure if they are working on my behalf. I am also not sure if they are even dealing with any of my creditors. I honestly dont think they are.
Debt Management Program? I currently have a little less than $8000 in credit card debt. I always pay more than the minimum payment and I have never been late. My credit score is good. I have started to find that after paying my credit cards I don't have much left and I am worried that it could cause a problem down the road. I am thinking of doing a debt management program to lower the interest rates. Does anybody know what this does to your credit? Can you keep one credit card open (it does not have a balance but I would like to keep in case of an emergency)? Also, any that you recommend?
Should I consider taking some debt management program? I owe more than $40,000 in credit cards bills. I can barely pay the minimum payments monthly, and it would be better if I can have one low payment combined. Should I consider some sort of debt management program? I applied for a debt consolidation loan before with BofA, but I was denied due to high balance. Now, I'm trying to see all the option available. I am a homeowner, single. I have stopped using MOST of my credit cards, and am trying to stop using all of them completely. Can anyone please give me some advise on what are the best options out there?
Do all debt management programs destroy your credit rating? As far as I can tell "debt management programs" are really just friendly faces of creditors that aren't interested in helping you as much as they are creditors. My wife was using one when we first married and they screwed everything up. It also destroyed my wifes credit for 7 years and charged her monthly to do it! Are there any ones that are actually out for the little guy?
Credit Solution Debt Management Program help!!!!!? I have recently enrolled in Credit Solution Debt Management Program and I am not sure if I should keep investing in this program. Will American Express Sue me over $1300 if I've Entered Into a Debt Management Program? For various reasons, I fell behind on my debts. I decided a debt management program was the best option for me and enrolled in one. Now I'm getting calls from some guy at a law office (I don't think he's actually a lawyer) saying they don't work with debt management companies and that he'll "start the paperwork to sue me and WILL garnish my wages" if I don't make payments through him instead. I called my debt management company and they said American Express accepts proposals through them all the time, and the guy is just using scare tactics. At one point he even said to me "So, your saying you aren't willing to pay this debt?" and I said "That's not what i'm saying at all". Will they actually sue me over $1300 when i'm making a clear effort to pay the money owed through my debt management program? And if so, would a judge actually garnish my wages if I could prove I was trying to pay the debt through the program? I would REALLY appreciate any help anyone can give. Just to clairfy, this is a debt management program, NOT a debt settlement or negotiation company. This company works with me to figure out how much I can afford to pay each creditor twice a month and pays them - in the end I pay the entire balance I owe. I'm in Canada and I'm using Debt Managers, they're one of the largest credit counselling agencies in Canada.
If I am in a debt management program, can I pay more than normal on my credit cards? So I have a Bank of America Visa with about $6,300 at 13%. The account was closed by a debt management program. And I have been paying monthly payments through the DMP. I want to make a payment on the Visa more than the monthly payment. But I cant pay the entire balance. I wanted to pay about $1000. Just to reduce the principle. But I remember the Credit Counseling told me not to do so. They said it shows that I have money and BOA might not abide by the agreement anymore. Do I trust the Credit counselors? Or make a payment to BOA directly? And do you think credit card companies are evil? JK
Can secured debt be included in a debt management program?(a car)? I am unsure and just wanting to know if it can be. Thanks!

should I consolidate my credit cards debt with a debt management company ?? what do you think? ? I have over $20,000 of credit card debt. I am able to pay them off slowly now, but I am thinking of consolidating everything with a debt management program. This program said they will close all my accounts and all I have to pay is a low monthly payment of $500 a month for all my credit cards. Is this a good deal? I am not sure. Thank you for reading and thank you for your time.
What are the pros and cons of Debt Management Programs? I'm behind in my bills and have an opportunity to go on a Debt Management Plan, but need more info to see if it is a good idea for me.
will starting a debt management program ruin your credit score? I have a decent credit score and have never missed a payment. However I find that I have to borrow from my credit cards to pay monthly bills. I am starting a dmp as a preventative measure so I don't start missing payments. is this a wise decision?
Debt Management Program/ Consolidation? I have over 10,000 worth of credit card debt and a personal loan of 2600 with Beneficial. I am thinking about consolidating it and wondering if anyone has had success with this. I did not want to get a loan but rather do a consolidation with a company that will lower my interest rates and monthly payments. I have so many cards and really think it will help to have just one payment. Can someone recommend a company to me and tell me why they have worked for you--NO SETTLEMENT COMPANY'S--I know these are bad news and I don't want my credit ruined. Thanks
How much impact does a Debt Management Program have on your credit? Some drastic changes have occurred in family’s income and I have to support two households (my own and my parents) for the time being. This means two mortgages and two set of utility bills. To help me manage this I am thinking of joining a DMP to reduce my monthly payment towards my unsecured credit. So far I have been on time on all my payments, but my credit score is lowering because I have had to put more debt in my credit cards. This is also causing a high debt to income ratio, making it hard to get a loan to consolidate my debt. Anyhow, when I was reading through the DMP material it said this might have a negative impact on my credit. My question is how bad of an impact this will have. Has anyone gone through a DMP? If so, how much did this affect your credit?
"the achievable" debt management program? Has anyone been through this program? We are going through it but it seems that it is more of a hassle than anything and it is making me nervous. My mother in law was going through it but they had to file bankruptcy because the program screwed them! If you know about this or have done it, any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
