Which debt management company is the best to use? I have several debts which are out of control and want to use a debt management company to make 1 monthly payment to in order to organise my debts but not sure which one to use which won't charge and which will be able to do this for me.
Has anyone had a not so good experience with a debt management company? Last year I had lost my job and got way behind in my bills. When I found a new job I decided to work with a debt management company to help with my debts. I've been with a company about five months and I'm starting to get calls from collectors almost every other day. I thought this company was helping me, but it seems to have made things worse. I decided to drop this company and just make arrangements with the original creditors to start making payments. From my personal view it's better to work with the original creditors.
What do I do if the debt management company doesn't make a payment for me on time? Can I sue them? In early 2006, I signed up with a company to consolidate my credit card debt. The full amount was around $12,000, and that's spread out over six cards. This year I started making a good bit more money, so, in May, I called the debt management company and asked if they'd take an EXTRA payment from me that month, as soon as possible, in order to knock off most of the debt on two credit cards. I thought I was clear and repetitive, but somehow they managed to ONLY pay those two cards that month of May and none of the others. Now Bank of America has told me that this has been negatively reported to the credit bureau. The debt management company, who made the error, is telling me, in so many words, that it's my fault and that there's nothing they can do. They tell me to call Bank of America, while Bank of America just shrugs and says, "We just report what comes in and what doesn't." I asked for a call back from a supervisor at the debt management company, but there's been none since I started asking last week. I threatened to sue them, and they told me, in so many words, that that is not an option. Can someone make a mistake that injures your credit rating and not be held accountable? I never missed a payment until now.
I am being sued by a credit card company. I am using a debt management company.? I don't know how best to answer the summons. I have saved almost enough money to probably settle with the credit card company. I will get paid and have the last of the money in hand two weeks after I have to answer the summons in writing. Should I put this information in the answer or just answer it generically and hope they settle when my debt management company contacts them. My debt management company won't contact them til I have the rest of the money in the settlement account.
Where can you find a reputable debt management company? Below is an answer to a debt question I asked. Im 70K in CC debt. You hear so many stories about these companies that say they settle debts and stories of how they really can’t do anything but just take your money. Does anybody know how to ferret out a reputable company that really does that service? What I would recommend would be to talk to an accountant or get some information from a company who can help settle debt for a lower cost. If you do that and they project that you can settle your debt for say 15-25k,

My daughter has applied to a debt management company? I am pleased that she is taking action to resolve her difficulties but feel I have let her down badly - I thought she would have known better than to get into such serious debt. This means for five years she will not be able to get a mortgage - she will be 28 before she can even apply - would it be better if I got out a loan and helped her out - I could not afford to do it for both my daughters though - the other one is very sensible with money so I feel that I would be letting her down too by seeming to favour the other

Besides telling me how I can better spend my money, I'm wondering how a debt management company could help me? I own a house. Would they somehow tie the debt into my mortgage payments? Basically - what can they do for me that the bank can't? Boss - why not spam less serious questions?
Does anyone know of a legitimate debt management/consolidation company? We are in debt and I don't want to file bankruptcy. After all I created the debt so I should pay it, but I also do not want to keep paying the minimum amount due for the rest of my life. I'm thinking of trying credit counseling and debt consolidation. Does anyone know of a good company? I tried my local credit counseling center that is through the government and they were rude and inattentive. I am in the United States. Thanks for the advice.
Is there a way to repair my credit rating quickly after having a debt company? I am now debt free but have been told that I will now NOT have a credit rating for 6 years as my accounts were defaulted after taking assistance from a debt management company but then paid off by my family? 1) Is this true? 2) Can anything be done to improve my credit rating? 3) What about these credit repair companies? Dare I ask about a mortgage??
Can debt management companies be trusted? I've been in a program for 10 months now. I've recently come into some money that will pay all these bill off. Now I'm a little conserned about sending a rather large check to the debt management company. They've been good in the past, paid what they said, but it just bothers me to send this much money to them. I wonder if I should pay the bills myself or let them do it. This is a once in a life time chance for me I can't screw it up.

How can you find out if a debt management company is legit? I have been in contact with a debt management company called DFH Finance, and i'm unsure if I should enter into an argreement with. Basically they have told me if i pay them £140 a month they will freeze all interest on my debts and it will be paid off in 3 years, a few things have worried me though, they sent me a form to fill out with all personal details on including bank details fair enough but then they called me and asked for them too and they also say that the first payment that i make has to be over the phone, is this normal practice. They have also asked for me to post this form first thing in the morning and get the post box code off the post box, I have not enter an argeement as yet, but does anyone have any ideas on how I could find out if this company is legit or not. I'am 21 and unsure about these things so any help anyone can give me would be great. Thanks

Can my credit score improve after a debt management program? I signed up with a debt management company due to a large amount of credit card debt I accumulated. This was after I read that this can be equivalent to filing for bankruptcy? Is it really that bad? Now that I have focused on paying off debt (on time) and budgeting, I am hoping my credit score can greatly improve in spite of the debt mgmt program? I have since canceled the program and I'm paying the debt myself.Thanks. Please, no sarcastic "told you so" comments, I'm kicking myself enough as it is!
Hi. Can someone please help me find the best company to help me settle my debt? I have about 40K in credit card debt that I haven't paid in over a year. I want to settle it once and for all. I don't want to have to deal with collectors or lawyers. How can I get the best possible settlement? I want to pay them off and get on with my life. Is it true that debt management companies can reduce my debt to up to 50%? If so, who do you recommend?
Is it still better to pay off the debt myself or continue to work with debt consolidation company? I have accumulated a lot of credit card debt due to an illness and loss of employment. The amounts I was paying became so large that I couldn't afford to make the mimimum payments so I decided to seek a debt management company. This has been going on for a year, but I don't seem to be getting anywhere because the interest rates continue to climb on the accounts I'm not currently paying on.
